That is pretty effective looks about right without being overdone. the only thing that worries me is the chunky window surround - which is totally out of your control

Why not have a word with Easy-build and have some of his etch window frames, from what i've seen they are alot better.

That etched letter rack looks the business  (as does all the rest I might add) whose etch mesh did you use? - I was looking for something similar for an LMS BG that I did. I didn't put the letter rack in, in the end but I would like the option for the future.

Did any MK1's survive into the blue era without window frames ?........Easybuild etches are good option for the frames though

Hi Phill, there seems to be a few blue/grey coaches that didnt have window frames. Im not sure of exact examples but some of  the catering vehicles certainly were in blue/grey without window frames

Phill, it needs glazing as well as the frame in a moulding on the glazing. When I finally get round to them I will laser some glazing and do my own etch.

Now that sounds interesting.  Doing one's own etch is OK and understood.  Where, or how, does one get the 'laser glazing' done.

Hi MTH

Just caught up with your thread, impressive work, I have a half built BG and I was woundering if you could tell me where you got your bogie mounts from? Please

I have used easybuild window etches on mine and cofirm they are a almost perfect fit and look much better.

just draw up the outline as a .dxf using a free CAD package or vector drawing program and wack it over to a laser cutter  :)) very simple operation. i do my own at home but other suppliers are available  8)

Ah, but for real mastery of materials, it has to be hewn from the raw with only one's teeth...

try JLTRT as they came with the kit :headbang:

the only extra bits i've added was the couplings and some 0.7mm brass wire for the handrails .

Thanks MTH, I did wounder if you would say that, I'll have to give them a ring, I asked Brian Daniels the same question and he replied that you have to scratchbuild them out of plasticard, and he must be one of JLTRT's best customers, so they must be missing them out of a lot of kits.

 Those window frames do stand out don't they - especially when the light hits them and creates such deep shadows!! :headbang: The pic of M13205 looks the best - without shadows.

Still, a 12-coach rake in O Scale is no mean feat and most impressive!! And they're in THE Livery of choice for this Forum... :)) ;)
