This photo hopefully shows that these were big wagons
Hopper number five coming together I'm running out of micro strip so will have to get some when I'm back in UK over Christmas
Very nice John , the weathered finish is terrific.
Making up the floor and the drawing that I have
Where did you get you drawing from?
I really don't remember it was someone on WT I am going to see if I can get some photo copies done as a few people on here want a copy
This shows the new floor as the one that comes with the kit isn't right (I hope that mine is) also I've tried etched W irons on this one .The photos should show what I've done I just need to tidy it up a bit .It does make for a better running wagon.
Someone did say to me why do you bother with all of the detail when you could just fill it with coal ?
Although it could be a bit tedious at times especially as there are ten to do I do quite enjoy it and think it's worth the effort
That would be great.
Hi I know that a few of you are interested in these wagons
If you look on Rmweb under Prototype discussions (not questions) there is a thread on them P7 20ton hoppers which has some good photos of the interior of them
This is one drawing - the LNER version:
Hartley Hill The Other Side Of The Fence (post 78)
The drawing John illustrates above is an earlier NER drawing - note timber end stanchions, the LNER version has T section rolled steel stanchions.
It will be interesting to see what other detail changes appear on the LNER built examples by comparing the drawings.
I'll get some copies done when I'm back in blighty over Christmas I hope that they reproduce ok
It was good to see that thread again
My model of the LNER version of the hopper stalled when I got to the W-irons, could I ask where you got yours from? They look like Slaters in the photographs but I didn't think Slaters did anything suitable.
Yes they are slaters and they come with the kit. Have you got any photos of your model I would like to see it and I'm sure others would aswell
Is yours a slaters kit
Yep it's a Slaters kit, and I should have been more specific I was referring to your sprung w-irons.
