Hi Adam,

welcome and I wish you well with your project - especially having to sort out Slaters wheels - you might try Dave Brooks at JPL Models ( jplmodels.co.uk )- he does a very nice turned wheel and might accomodate your particular requirements.

cheers

Mike

Oh  :shit: I'd forgotten about that.... ::) :-[

Note to Forum Members - careful what you post when Mr Dunkley has had a skinfull...  :)) :)) :)) :)) :))

Well I have to say that despite the banter, leg pulling & general urine-extraction that goes on here (or is it because of it?) if ever you get stuck or feel down about something, there'll always be plenty of encouragement given here that helps you to keep going, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way. Just ask Iploffy...  ;D

New to model railways, and straight in with Scale7, eh..?

Welcome to the Forum from the Bodger's Corner, a.k.a. The Back of the Class....  :-[

I hope there's another desk back there for me! I'm sure my start in the Scale7 world won't be craftsman's quality!  :))

Welcome Adam,

I am normally far too anti-social to issue welcome messages, but I think you should be made aware of a couple of truths.
Firstly, this a friendly place, and secondly we have a major problem on this forum with Jordan's modesty, even if he does generally inhabit the back of the class. If you want an example of bonhomie and the esteem in which Jordan is held, have a look at this memorable rant.

A [s:clzlls92]minor[/s:clzlls92] major classic of model railway forum folklore, was that...

Although if I can look forward to the wonderful encouragement you guys give it should be easy to take big strides forward

Welcome Adam..!

Another Scale7 contributor excellent!!!

If you are free this Sunday, and you can get to Wanstead, you
could come up with me to Sawbridgeworth to see the new S7 layout,  Crosscombe Magna. I'll check to make sure it's okay with the group, but I'm sure it's more the merrier...

JB.

That's very kind, JB  :) Unfortunately I'm on holiday in France at the moment otherwise I would have definitely taken you up on your offer (subject to the Group's ok-ing it of course)! Maybe next time - I would love to see Croscombe Magna  :)

My second ever engine was Scale7, and it was opening the box to running on West Mersea within 6 days.... :))

JB.

I remember the postings - incredible work  and finding and reading the thread was one of the main reasons why I decided to take the plunge straight into Scale7

Thanks Mike - I'll look into that (have the feeling I'm going to need all the help I can get with those wheels!).

Me? What did I do?

Attention at the back of the class, there: it was Mr. Cook who made that posting after a skinful.
When I've had a few, I become nicer...
...and you will have noticed, therefore, that I have not been on here after a skinful.

It's actually very simple: I dislike Southerners, and by inference, I am standing on the North Pole... ;)

Hi Adam

I'm another of the pre-group S7 bodgers, LCDR in my case - I might even get a good chassis going one day! The last one sounded like an F1 car on the front straight at Brands once I turned the power on and hopped around on the oversprung axles.  :))

I think diving straight in is a good idea as there's no modelling legacy to discard and as you've seen there's plenty of help around here.

I would definitely recommend the S7 group if only for the stuff available from the 'stores'.  Chris Makepeace runs a wheel turning service as well, whether it's just for members I'm not sure.

There's a S7 open day at Mark on the 8th October (details in the 'Society News/S7 Group' section of this forum) for you to have a look-see before making your mind up.  I don't know whether the Model Railway Club have an S7 section, but Keen House is almost just round the corner from you.

All the best.

Phil.

PS You are presumably not painting your loco in BR blue - are you?  ::)

Being a member of the S7 society will also get you 10% off at Slaters too..!

Adam, there are two meetings coming up at Sudbury next week if you fancy a trip to the land of the 11 fingered people, all except for Peter Hunt who only has 9... Was that cruel?  :))

If there is a meeting on the afternoon of Sunday 25 September that would work for me and I would definitely fancy the trip  - generally I struggle on week days, more's the pity!!
