Hi All,

Just thought i would introduce myself.

I live in Nottingham and have beed a Rail fanatic since my youth, (Dads fault).
I actually normally model in 4mm scale (sorry but space limitations etc) and found this site whilst looking for advice on scratch building. What I hope to do however is to scratch build rolling stock in 7mm for static display purposes. That said , I recently bought a part work for a 7mm A1 Pacific and the idea struck me as to how much fun (if thats the right description) it would be to try to build stock in 7mm for static display. I am really fascinated by the amount of extra detail that you can get onto a 7mm model over 4mm. so I hope you will all bear with me if I start asking newbie questions aboutscratch building in this scale.
I have had a good look around the site and have to say that the projects you allare working on are stunning to say the least.

Anyway thats all from me for now, I hope that you will forgive me for not being a "serious large scale modeller but as I say the idea of scratch building stock in 7mm really as got myhead full of ideas :) .

Hello, Good day and Welcome,

Just watch out for the humour (good, bad and puzzling). Make sure that you have a comfortable chair for there are no spares in the back row... carpet slippers and pipes allowed.

Back row? Do not worry, plenty of references within WT to that place of great wisdom and modelling skill.

WT is full of inspiration, innovation and enjoyment. Best atmosphere guaranteed.

Hi Jason,

Welcome to the Forum. Why stop at static 7mm models, it's more fun trying to make them move.:)

Regards,

Scott

Thanks very much for the warm welcome everyone.

The main reason for the models being static is that I dont have space for a 7mm layout, I live in a 1 bed flat!

Again thanks guys, I look forward to talking to you all.

Thanks for the welcome! as for era and location , (if I actually get to thestage of making them move:)) not really decided yet, The original plan was just to try and scratch build some of my favourate locos, I have drawings for an LMS 4F so was thinking of attempting that, especially as I have plastic tube that is the correct diamater for the boiler. What I would ultimatly like though is to model a Peak Class 45, ( and yes iploffy, It would be blue!).

Thanks

Jason
