Just checked MMP and they're "Out Of Production"
Can't find any on Slaters website....

Hi D1054

That's a very nice loco  . I'm not a big fan of 37's but you have made an exellent job  . I think loco's with headcode blinds look great, much better than the domino headcodes  .

Any more progress on Monitor ? Would love to see some pics

Nice work.

When I was a spotter in the 1970s, I used to hate BR blue. At that time, there were still a few locos in green (my favourite colour, railway or otherwise), plus the occasional maroon Mk1 and in comparison, I thought blue locos and blue/grey carriages were a real kick in the teeth. With the passing of several years though, I can now appreciate that blue livery did indeed look good on some locos and rolling stock, though I think I'm probably doing my model of Western Rifleman blue for nostalgic, rather than aesthetic reasons (sorry Rob!).

Regards

Dan

Thanks Dan / Rob,

This Type 3 was an interloper on the triple headed Margam - Llanwern steels when I went down to Cardiff to photograph them - they were usually 3 x 37/3's. To see a green engine by that tiem would really make my day, especially 47's which I thought were especially well suited to two-tone green with full yellow ends...... a green 40, 25 or 20 was special, and a green 31, well... probably unique!

My fleet will all be blue (also for nostalgic reasons), with the exception of a green 47 (probably 47 356), and a Maroon Wezzie, which will be D1015 Western Champion in current mainline running condition, but with D1015 one side and D1054 Western Governor on the other as when she ran the "Western Rocks" railtour in March of this year (and for which I shall be eternally grateful to the DTG for allowing me a cab-ride to the terminus at Buxton :D ).

Monitor's bogies are taking shape, Rob, but not started the bodywork just yet. I'll put some photo's up when I do the DCC working fans, lights, etc. She'll be blue, in November 1975 condition as I saw her at Paddington (when I was 11 years old). At the moment I'm finishing 40 132 before taking D1063 into the workshop.

Glad to hear Rifleman will also be turned out in blue, Dan! We'll have to get our fleet together for a running day

Hi D1054, Exellent stuff, wessies ,in my opinion are best in blue  . The pics of Monitor that i have seen are very faded ;) but thats how i remember them. I am about two years younger than you by my calculations and battered blue is how i'm doing all my westerns
Very envious of your cab ride  at Buxton.
Nice pic of 3x37's

Just for a second then I thought you'd made a very good model of a block of Flats there in the background...

If I was to have an O scale 37, this is the version I'd want, with centre Headcode Box and Buffer 'skirts', for 37 270, the last 37 to go up the Forest of Dean branch line in 1976... :)

Hi 1054

love the look of your wessie. I would like to add one to my fleet but cant justify a type 4 loco on my little branch line setup . That image of those three 37s brings back memories . Many a time i was waiting on my t500 stroker at the lights and when that formation passed by they would be sand down, regulator full open climbing into Cardiff central /general . Jordon i reckon that parkend would be a good project for you after all it could be what you call a shunty plank with a fiddle yard each end hope you had a good holiday by the way

Parkend  Don't tempt me...!!! Lovely place although I prefer the way it looked a few years ago before the DFR finally re-opened it, with the run-round loop cut short in the platforms, and the link to Marsh Sidings still in situ, even though it ended at the road. It'd need a fair bit of compression to become Shunty-plank sized, though..!!

Hols were okay except too hot & no trains.... :headbang:
