On Sandy's Workbench-Various 7mm builds

Cab roofs are always a problem, I find. Would you mind sharing whether you intend the roof to be a permanently fixed one, or will it be clipped somehow?

Hi Heather, I have sorted the roof by soldering 4 small lengths of brass tube, 1.55mm OD and .8mm ID tight into the 4 corners of the cab. So that they are not seen through the front and rear cab windows, I have also filed the tube flat on two sides and countersunk the top of the tube before soldering. I then soldered 4 'L' shaped lengths of .7mm brass wire at 45 deg nearly into the four corners of the underside of the roof and sharpened the ends of the wire. If you get your measurements just about right the wire can be slid into the ends of the tube and friction should hold the roof down. You can also put a slight bend in the dropper wire to help with this if needed.

I have packed the loco up to take to Kettering in the morning but, if you need photos, let me know and I'll take and post some later in the weekend.

Kind regards

Sandy

Thanks Sandy. I can picture almost exactly what you've done, but if you find time for some photos that would be most appreciated.

Looking at this photo: Stanier "3P" Class 2-6-2T No. 40120. by Ron Bowyer, on Flickr

I'd go with:
Injector,
Step strut,
Frame profile,
Anchor link to rear pony truck.

Well, that's assuming I've got the right class of loco in my two-minute internet search...:))

Steph
Why didn't I come across that photo? You must have a better internet search engine (no pun intended) than me!! Now need to find out what make of injector they had fitted!
Thanks Steph very useful.

I thought amongst my collection of Stanier 2-6-2 negs I could find a better one of the injectors. Most are just too dark, but this one is fairly clear
