Combination of ruled lines for the leading with a card frame to provide some 3D relief?
A little wander over to Kettering today for the G0G event. Good to talk to various folk including the Finney7 brigade, Heather (plus "Best Beloved"), Minerva Chris and Ragstone Andy.
I can now cross the T9 off the "to acquire" list and add it to the "needs building" list. Thanks to Richard and Stef for various hints and tips.
Dapol had their 45xx pre-production model there. Looked OK from what you could see through the glass case:
Whilst you were in Kettering I was drooling over your favourite pannier.
The Devil's pannier 4666!
Green coaching stock arrives at last at Pencarrow...
Can you tell what it is yet?
A few more...
I should point out for those not following the thread that the station building is just a card mock up with a bit of paint slapped on.
How I miss being able to get to exhibitions. Not that I ever went to to many.
I didn't do many at all last year.
I missed Stafford due to bust ribs, Kettering due to snow and Telford due to family commitments. I did help operate a friends layout at DEMU and went to the excellent Wells show for the first time though.
Trying to remember if I made Aylesbury. I was down to operate Black County Blues in the spring (Basingstoke?) but unfortunately we had to withdraw due to insufficient operators.
Although I was really torn about deviating so heavily from the prototype Bodmin North in this corner, I'm really glad I decided to build the wharf buildings. They fill an awkward void in the back of the layout, provide an interesting backdrop and offer a few nice little views IMO.
On that basis I thought I'd have a play with an idea I had last night having found some 2mm grid etched brass sheet in the stash...
Needs a few more bars snipping out yet but it could work.
I think this will do...
Just 3 more to do now.
With a bit more detail to the surrounding woodwork it should look the part although not a spot on reproduction.
Now that is really going set the building off nicely.
Possibly. Yesterday I found various packs of etched mesh I forgot I had. Lots of different sizes. Thankfully one of them was close enough to use.
And it's all your fault .
Thanks to all for the suggestions and offers of assistance.
Very clever, looks perfect.
Excellent use of materials - another idea to plagiarise.
Windowledge.... will raise it about enough to fit at the top
Could make it a rotting window sill.
