I hope they contrast nicely with the chocolate and cream coaches too.:)

All over brown then.

I suspect the only brown coaches you're likely to see are salmon and brown .... on a special if rule #1 applies.. ;)

A mere "like", I feel, is unworthy. Fantastic stuff.

Thank Heather, much appreciated. Takes ages to get the worn, tatty look but the result is worth it I think.

As I've said before I'm trying a few things out on these two buildings. They are my guinea pigs. I think I've now settled on the 'look'i want to achieve.

Will be fun trying to get the same finish across the layout but using the same limited palette of colours helps.

I've been looking at your work, and whilst it is exceptional, there has been something niggling away.
I think it is the uniform colour from top to bottom. Maybe you've got this planned already, but I think the buildings should be darker at the base, where there is more damp and dirt.

Cheers Stu, yes some darker shading is planned. I'm trying to get both buildings to the same stage before the final tarting though.

And in other news... I have relented and allowed some chocolate and cream on the layout...

Oh dear :( - as long as it's the side door and hidden from view...:).

Should have used green and cream instead .

This is one of my dad's slides of Swanage taken in 1961 which may be useful for woodwork colours used in that period.

Apart from the obvious subject, not being in Cornwall but LSWR nevertheless. The Railway Hotel appears to have a light teak colour on the doors and frames on the ground floor whilst the remaining paint work is either cream or ivory. The house on the left has a malachite/chrome green door and again cream or ivory for the window frames.

Some fancy sash windows on the Railway Hotel.
