I like the ex LSWR idea, it adds a nice little twist and a lot of character, you wouldnt have Ilfracombe in mind?? .
I always liked Winchester Chesil which went from WR to SR in 1950 so some of the signs were Green and some was still ex chocolate.
Yes Ilfracombe has always been my inspiration for the line  , We went on holiday there not long after closure & exploring the station area gave me a fascination for disused railways. If I did go down the BR(WR) ex-GWR route I would do a fictional GWR Ilfracombe station, but ex-LSWR is my favoured option , I love the architecture, the colour scheme & the way that the SR use concrete for just about everything when they modernised the lines. But I do it I don't want a authentic model of Ilfracombe as it was very much a basic railway in my early 1970's era & even before that it was more or less limited to holiday traffic ,so if I do a fictional ex-LSWR Ilfracombe what do I call it :?: ,so far I have come up with Hilfracombe or Woolacombe & I was calling it Melbourne , but I have decided I don't like that one........I might just say sod it & call it Ilfracombe anyway   ...any Ideas :?: :?

Phillfracombe ??
If you like the location, (I do) I would model it as it was, with the goods facilities etc call it ilfracombe, but run your later stock. I dont think it would look out of place as there are lots of pictures from 67/68 of stations with all the steam era infrastructure, goods yards etc still in place, so moving on a couple of years would not be that unreasonable.

You know , I had convinced my self to change direction & go for the fictional ex GWR Ilfracombe option (probably something to do with that lovely canopy on the Burford branch in this months MRJ), but I think you have convinced me to stick to my guns & do a surviving withered arm branch . I can't fit the full Ilfracombe track plan in my 24 feet of space so the jury is still out on the name, but I have decided against Phillfracombe

The overall roof is from Ashburton actually most of the station layout is Ashburton, I have the plans if you want them. i will post a Sketchup model of the station as i have done quite a bit of research into Ashburton. I also have an MRJ with a Barry Norman plan of Ilfracombe if that is any help.
It might be an idea to start a separate thread for your idea, and I will merge this into it as we are getting a little off topic

The cooker needs a good a good layer of grease and fat
it looks as if you have used a few layers of plasticard for the walls?

Yes i used 100 thou for the main construction then the outer skin is 7mm brick (flemish bond) and 4mm planking. The top half of the box having planking both inside and outside.

That 100thou must take some cutting :D How are you going to do the roof?
Its all a 'warm up' for the main roof I guess....

i will use 15 thou for the roof and use plastic section for the frame. Once the overall roof is constructed i will use 10 thou or 15 thou and fix individual tiles ( a long and tedious job but well worth the effort).

So all the trusses are going in?! and lights? I have read in a couple of places that paper makes good tiles and that it is possible to print guidelines to help the cutting.

I have opted for plastikard tiles for the roof, which are now on order. The levers and signal equipment i have just ordered from Invertrains. These are resin, not sure what will turn up as not much detail or pics on his site. . The lights ,i think, will be grain of wheat x3 which will hopefully be fitted soon, when i manage to scrounge 3 off one of my mates(he does'nt know this yet,but soon will). I hope to take some pics at the weekend

Did'nt take any pics of progress but the Invertrain levers came, very nice castings in whitemetal and at ?5.50 for 20 not bad price. (springside do a interior kit with signal equipment and 30 levers at ?30) But as Penzance has 75 levers i wont be going down that road  . I have got to ask my mate at our railway club about the track layout/points/lever set-up(he is a signalman at Shirebrook Box) . I have finished building the roof which i am very happy with :p , just needs painting. I finally went for the slaters sheets of tiles. I was suprised how far they went. The roof only took 1 and a bit sheets  The list of jobs to do on the box is small now.
1. Paint roof
2. Finish off levers/signal equipment
3. Add couple of chairs( one an arm chair)
4. Add Penzance Signal Box sign. (still to get letters)
5. Put lights in.
6. Finish weathering.
And of course 7. add Signalman.
Will try and get some pics took asap.

Hi All, Not sure if this is in the right section, so i appologise if its not. I am after photos of 08 641 at penzance. This is to help me with detail for my build of my mmp 08. I can only find 08 840 and 644 pics at the mo so if anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated ;)

Thanks in advance Rob

Hi Rob  , is another one of 08644 at Penzance in the late 70's of any interest?
