To maintain my Mr Chippy I feel I should grumble that not enough (in fact none) shows in the UK keep the exhibitors back at the end of the day for a complimentary beer - the nearest we come is Simon's own Larkrail where we all adjourn to the pub at the end of play. A splendid idea in my opinion and one to be encouraged.

A wonderful social event with some fabulous modelling from across Europe. Off out for more eating and drinking shortly.

Unklian's loco looks gorgeous - can we have some more photos please?

Having just come back from the BRM show at Doncaster, I can say that the Warner's provided complimentary meals on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Simple fare, but a thoughtful touch.

Thread title changed to avoid confusion with other shows.

I will try and take some more pictures, the French P87 is magnifique.

Here's our stand with Iain getting ready this morning. He's been working on the very first Riceworks etch for the "wide bodied" Buckjumper, while Dave Doe has been P87-ing wheels for a Co Co, just one Co to go, as it were.

The most excellent "St Merryn" is flying the Withered Arm's flag behind us.

Don't want to spend too much time on the computer, but here are a few more from Jerry.

Depot on large French O gauge roundy roundy, seen at Telford in 2001 I think.

Henk Wurst's appealing and very well lit 009.

Geraint Hughes layout with Unklian's stock.

And the dynamic duo on Tucking Smith's Mill, Jerry Clifford to left, Dave Simpson (Mr Gas Cupboard) on right:

A great show!

Thank you Simon for kicking off this thread.

Houten was a pretty good show and thanks must go to Dave Doe and Alex Fichtinger for organising it all. It was also great to meet some WT'rs too, Simon, Jerry and Dave with the exquisite Tucking Mill and the St Merryn crew.

I am rather surprised and flattered to see one of my locos in the first picture though. And Steph is well on the ball with it being a Roco Bavarian mallet that has been P87'ed and lightly re-detailed to make it look it a bit more like a Danish loco . The other loco shown is the sort of rebuild of a Fleischmann model where less than 30% of the original remains . Of course both of them came about through my association with Geraint Hughes ( Mr Middlepeak ) and the layout they are on called Obbekaer. This represents a might of been station on a private railway in southern Jutland.

Lots more on the other place here.. Obbekaer - P87 - Overseas Modelling

The second wagon in the first picture is the one I showed in the W on Y workbench thread page 31, nearly finished, just needs a bit of weathering.
A few more pics of Obbekaer for you ....:)

And BTW.....
If you wish to know more about the French buildings they are by a fella called Emmanuel Nouaillier, just put his name ( careful with the spelling ) into your favourite search engine for more. He has written a series of 'how to' articles in Continental Modeller as well as the French model railway mags .

Thanks for the recommendation - some amazing stuff here! ATMOSPHERES par EMMANUEL NOUAILLIER: décembre 2014

I don't suppose you can enlighten me any on this small stand next to Obbekaer, with the small RB crawler crane - circled in red?

That is David Barham's Fen End Pit layout. And the dragline excavator does work. See his blogs on the other place....;)

PS he uses 'Fen End Pit' as his name/handle

I can't get excited about foreign stuff as a rule, but the buildings and road surfaces on "Docks Centure P87" look superb! (Excellent pictures too).
