Breaking news Folks, Scale 7 locomotives have got 1st. & 2nd place in the Guilds competition on saturday (yesterday).
Scale7JB's K2 took first place & Ian Middleditch (last years winner) came in second.

Well done lad's. Should we now call the GOG the "7mm scale Guild" :))

That's good news - anything that raises the profile of S7 is great.

Well done JB!

Congratualtions Jonathan. It's nice when winners are people we know.
Very true and also nice when they raise the bar another notch or two as well. Congratulations to all involved.

I am genuinely very pleased about this - it finally shows that the Guild (of which I am a member and in which I play an active part) is accepting S7 - something I've sought to encourage.  The approaches are complimentary and much as I would enjoy working to the finer tolerances, the project I'm part of is finescale and frankly I just enjoy working in 7mm scale.

And let's not forget that 'O-gauge' covers a multitude of gauges, scales, standards and recommended practises all around the 1:45ish scale; the Guild should be there for all modellers in this family, rather than aligning itself purely with the so-called 'finescale' community.

Well that's one man's view - and the models that won were 100% deserving of their awards.

Perhaps the Guild should be re-named by replacing the "Gauge O" part with something else :))

I rather like the French approach to this, which has a certain je ne sais pas* about it.

They acknowledge that it is 0 (zero) and not O (letter), and call themselves "zeroists", which sounds like some macabre act at  "le cabaret Voltaire" (Swiss dadaists, not
- ahh, memories: live and doing a cover version).
There is also the "Circle of Zero".

Simon
*Although, of course, I wouldn't know about that.

How about we change the Guilds name to 'The Course Scale,Fine Scale,Scale Seven,Pre Grouping, Post Grouping, Nationalisation, Post Nationisation, Steam, Diesel & Electric 7mm Modelers Guild'...........then again we could leave it as the 'Gauge O Guild' which as far as I'm aware welcomes all & a few more of the above  ;)
