John,

Thanks for the additional information, your right, some of these kit masters go back through many hands, some sadly never see the light of day once changed hands and I was struck yesterday by how few etch kit suppliers there actually are and perhaps how fragile the industry is.

The C13 looks nice, wrong colour of course LOL, lined BR black seemed to suit them quite IMHO.

I've noticed that no one seems to have done an GCR A5 given the popularity of Robinson locos and their oft handsome design the A5 seems oddly missing from 7mm circles.

Evening folks. I've not posted on here for some time, I'm keen on venturing into 7mm with the Western, and have reservations which I've seen echoed on here. The 2nd preproduction images are over on RMweb- what are your thoughts?
I've noticed the headcode box is in the wrong position and too low, and just sets off the "face" wrong.
Dilemma- do I wait to see if Dapol take a quantum leap- I'm sure they will.

The chap at Tower suggested that it wouldnt be released until well into next year, by which time a clearer picture will have emerged about any alternative choices ;) The best advice right now to anyone is wait and see :)
The handrails on the cab also look a funny angle.

Hi Neil,

Yes i have seen the pics on rmweb and the comments. I personally am going to wait for the Dapol 7mm Western. I think it WILL go ahead, its just a WHEN ?.
The Dapol 4mm western looks more accurate than the Heljan 4mm and with the "issues" with there 7mm version im sure the Dapol one will be the better option. ( of course its only MY opinion ).

However the price range foe the Dapol one makes it even more appealling:thumbs:

Rob:)

Hello Rob
Nice to talk to you again. Yes I'm sure Dapol will go for it- there are too many mistakes with the HJ, it'd be rude not too.

Mick,
John Robinson was one of those rare engineers who produced aesthetically pleasing designs that were built like brick outhouses!!....will agree to disagree about liveries though!!:p.
As for the 9N (A5!!) I believe that Meteor now market the old MSC kit....a bit basic but a good start !...cue gratuitous loco photo .....
Cheers Tony.

I'm with Cynric on the Heljan/Dapol Westerns, I think we will probably wait another year for the Heljan by which time Dapol's intentions will be clearer ;)

Phill :)

Well!, that's a tidy looking beastie (A5) isn't it, who produced that, and do they still?
Mick, Meteor models !!. An old kit , pretty basic with milled frames and milled one piece rods . I also replaced the framing above the footplate either side of the smoke box....will post a photo, easier to show why than try to explain !.
Cheers Tony.
