Resizing photos off phone

Hi gents
This may not be the area to discuss this but can anybody help me. I am trying to load photos from my Galaxy S7 phone onto western thunder but the site won't accept them. I have sent them to Dan Randal with no issues who keeps on telling me to post them on this site.

I would start looking at whether the photo viewing app on your phone gives you options to resize images. If it doesn't, which is likely, it may pay to search the relevant app store to find a free or cheap photo editing software. I usually start asking folk wi similar devices what they have and recommend.

If all that doesn't work, find out how to offload the images from your phone to a PC and do it from there. (It will probably involve a USB cable, usually the one you use to charge the phone.)

I have to say, while I love all this modern tech, I'm not sure it's making life any simpler.

Hi,

I don't have an Android device so I'm making a few assumptions here. I think you probably have the camera set to take the maximum size photos which for the S7 12Mb in size and 4032*3024 resolution which is too big. On WT maximum attachment size is 10Mb and photos of 1500x960 resolution which is more than enough for a web page. The higher resolutions are really for high quality printing or cropping in on a small area.

As far as I can see there are 3 options.

1. Change your camera settings for a smaller size and resolution. Fine for new photos but won't help with ones you've already taken.
2. Install an app like this Reduce Photo Size – Android Apps on Google Play to resize existing photos. I have no experience of this software so can't comment on how good it is.
3. Transfer them to a computer and use the image editing software on there to resize.

I hope this helps.

Sounds interesting - so there is a 4th option if you want email the photos to myself and I'll resize them and add them to your post.

Thanks again for all your help. Will now ask my youngest son to use his computer as ours died last year.

I use the Reduce Photo Size app on Android. Works well.
