Wow that looks almost spot on, and is impressive, to my eyes (and everyone is different) I would say a tiny bit to dark, but still gets top marks in my book.

Well done Rob

The photos show clearly how the visible appearance is influenced by the colour base and the number of coats... top left of the second photo ticks the box for me.

regards, Graham

By coincidence that is exactly the same as the coach side

Thanks JP, I take it that you are referring to the coach side rather than the samples?

Yes Rob, I see the teak coaches on the NYMR a lot and would say you have it spot on for a newly varnished coach, however after a few years they fade slightly, I certainly would'nt alter what you have done, but you could do the next coach as a bit more faded and have some variation in your rake, or just ignore me and keep it the same. either way I think you've made a cracking job.

One of those birthdays that have a zero at the end arrived this morning and with it came a couple of additions to my coaching stock in the form of a couple of Kemilway GNR coach kits - A 52' Dia 114 G.N.R Composite (which is very different from an LNER D114) and a 58'6" Dia 176 G.N.R Brake Composite.

Due to Peter Dawson being ill there are a few bits to follow to complete the kits but they should be here in the next few days (bogies and one of the underframes).

Happy birthday Rob, sounds like you've had a good haul of prezzies! I'm lucky if I get a slice of toast thrown across the table!

Wasn't Kemilway the kits that Mt Parkins was raving about? Looking forward to seeing them in the workshop.

Thanks Steve, and yes those are the ones - I had some of their 4mm kits but never got around to building them before moving up to 7mm.
