Rowmark

Guys,

I've got sheets and sheets of various thicknesses of Rowmark that I've accumulated for laser cutting. I've tended to use MDF and card as its super easy to glue with PVA.

Rowmark cuts and will take rivets with my riveter nicely but I can't find any glue that will hold it together?!? Any ideas? MekPac and Slaters ABS glue doesnt seem to last.

Have you tried the EMA Plastic weld for ABS? It often sticks plastics that other glues won't...

I don't have any Rowmark, but I have some Trolase which could be similar. I've just tried using Butanone and that seems to work well. It's also available on Ebay as 99.9% MEK at a considerably cheaper price. I also tried Acetone, but that didn't work too well.

I tried plastic weld, results were patchy. Some areas welded, others completely unaffected. I also found rowmark far more brittle than styrene, when I tried to create a tumblehome.
I think you're better sticking with MDF.

Another option is an adhesive called Tensol 12 it's also available from eBay in small cheap bottles. It's used in the plastic sign making industry so it may be worth a try.

The Tensol range of adhesives were originally for welding acrylic sheet, such as 'Perspex', 'Plexiglass' and similar.
I understand that Romark is an extruded ABS with an Acrylic cap so Tensol should work

After reading your question I looked at the Rowmark website and noted that there is a range of products... even when restricting interest to those listed under the 'Laser engravable' tab. There appears to be product differences across the range, either in core composition or in surface treatment... so which product have you bought?

Given that Perspex and Plexiglass are polyacrylates then Rowmark with an Acrylic content / surface ought to be amenable to Tensol cements.
