This afternoon, Richard Carr invited S7 members to come and play trains on Croscombe Magna. The layout has grown a lot since I last saw it, sprouting a whole new fiddle yard and an extension in the station area. Here are some snaps from the day.
This is about half the layout in its current form. The new fiddle yard is seen projecting into the central space. This is a big tail chaser type layout.
Eldred Clark brought some of his Midland & Great Northern Railway stock to run. Here's a rather lovely 0-6-0 at full pelt. I failed to get any shots of the superbly finished teak M&GN six-wheelers it was pulling.
Eldred patiently trying to couple the train to the loco! Age does not help us, even with 7mm scale models!
Peter Mann brought this nice NER bo-bo, which hauled the coal hoppers with ease. It has both bogies powered, and with a little extra weight will probably be able to pull some lengthy trains.
Peter Beare brought a pair of MMP Catfish, or are they Dogfish? It's not my specialist subject, but they looked the part. He's done a nice job of building these kits. He also brought along a couple of loco projects, but I'm told they are under embargo. Let's just say the camera was quietly ushered away whenever it approached too near!
I shot some helicopter video of some trains moving. I'll post a link when YouTube has finished whatever it does after uploading.
Here we are! YouTube has finished fettling…
