Why has this competition for tank wagons is only eligible for wagon limited to products of refining crude or crude oil. What is the differences between crude oil and chemicals wagons. Are there that many members who scratch build tank wagons to limit this competition to only one small section of tank wagons ?

I would have built something to enter in the competition but I couldn’t justify using my time on a vehicle which didn’t fit into my modelling programme.

Feel the same way about this. Since I joined he S7 group the wagon competition has focused on stock that doesn't fit my interests. I can't help thinking there would be more engagement if the scope was wider.

Taken from Tim's draft minutes of the AGM -

Chairmans Cup/President's Plate - the 2019 competition for kit built and scratchbuilt models will feature Cattle Wagons and Horseboxes.

Hopefully a broad enough category to enable you all to enter something....

It had been agreed at the 2017 AGM that the category would be Livestock vehicles. That would include far more than Cattle Wagons and Horse Boxes.

image.jpeg image.jpeg Now my newsletter has arrived I can see the results of the last wagon competition. Congratulations to Peter Drost for winning the scratch built category with a fine entry.
I asked on here in May about the difference between a tank wagon built for oil products and one built for chemicals ?
I have built a tank wagon but the liquid inside was for chemicals and not oil so I did no enter.
Looking at Peters fine model I cannot see the difference between the two. They both look the same to me.
This may seem like sour grapes but I am more amused by this strange anomaly.

I too would have been puzzled as a tank wagon is purposely designed to carry liquids irrespective of it's shape - rectangular or cylindrical. Therefore it would naturally include tar, oil, petroleum, chemical, liquified gas, foodstuff (milk, wine, corn oil, etc) or water tankers :).

At least the next competition is livestock vehicles - so it's an overloaded Pacer unit or a circus train then .

I kind of lost interest when the subject was a van. I asked if I could do a modern van such as a VDA. As I was refused, I lost interest in the group's use.
