SCRATCH BUILDING A MODEL SHIP

A friend of mine recently asked me to build a model ship for his quaysde diorama on his o gauge model railway i pointed out to him that langley do a nice kit of a clyde puffer but at ?148 this was out of the question so armed with a bit of 4x2 timber ,some milliput , a couple of sheets of styrene, an old paint brush handle,a bambo skewer, and a firework rocket launcher left over from nov 5th i came up with my version of a clyde puffer or should i call it a taff tramp for a fraction of the cost see the images below for a step by step construction so far, i will post images of the completed model once its done as this is a work in progress thread i dont think my cat is impressed by it though :lol:

The thing about 7mm ships is that they are big. mind you that crew man looks pretty frightened by the cat

slinky is a bit of a train buff in her younger days she used to sleep on my n gauge layout i had to slowly approach her with a smile and lift her off my MAROON western courier and its rake of eight minitrix MAROON mk 1s if i had approched cussing her she would have done mega damage . shes also liked the scalectrixs my boy had , she used to knock the cars off the track with a quick flick of her paw im sure she thought it was for her :lol:

The model has now been sprayed all over with primer ready for it to be painted.Now comes the fun part , my friend has requested that the ship should look rusty and work weary and have a cargo of coal

and here is the completed model i say completed as that is all im going to do with it ,my mate who i built it for can fit the life boat and rigging and crew members etc . it wont win any prizes but hey for approx a fivers worth of matierials its not bad infact i quite like it and i may make one for my layout

Well the cabin under the wheelhouse seemed to change orientation a few times, so anything's possible I suppose...
