Hi Bryan,

I have just watched your son's video clips and he has done a fine job, my favourite parts were the 33 and 37 towards the end as the wagons go by, with 7mm you have the sense of mass and also the clickery-click over the rail joints  Magic.

ATB,

Martyn.

:) Thanks for checking it out, My Son who posts these vids is always pleased to see the number of watchers grow. My favourite is the Class 33. Have you seen that one? Am awaiting delivery of a Peter Clark built Class 205 Thumper but awaiting SW Digital to release the sounds for the sound card.
Kind regards
Bryan

Bryan,

You would almost certainly get away with using a Class 08 sound profile if my recollections are correct. They have the same sort of 'chunter'. SWD would happily sort one out for you with the appropriate whistle/horn depending upon what era you're modelling. Just a thought...;)

Hi Steph
Thanks for your suggestion. My son contacted SWD today and they are once again saying there is a delay. They did the sounds for the Kernow Bachmann special in OO and said that once that released they would be able to release to the public at large. Was to be Easter , then after Easter and now July as they say they are doing it all again as they not happy with the sounds. Very frustrating !!!!Get down to the Mid Hants and flash up their unit say I !!!
Best regards
Bryan

Brilliant Thank You Phill. Martyn thanks for the link as yet untried... I am determined not to let this kit beat me lol

Hows this Ian!
I am a serving Marine Engineer Officer in the RFA (Royal Fleet Auxiliary) and write this from my ship just finishing a 5 month refit in Falmouth I am the Chief Engineer for my many sins..... My son (19) and I have an interest in the Last of Steam and early BR era in O gauge. I am lucky to own 3 Lionheart Panniers, GWR, Black and green lined liveries , a couple of Heljan 33's. and a 37 I have a 12ft long 12ft radius 'shunting layout in a bedroom, a 4ft radius oval test track in a loft and a 6ft radius garden test track . So we are able to run and shunt trains at our leisure. My son has posted short videos of the garden layout so if you YOU TUBE Pannier, 33 or 37 you will sure to see them ! Be pleased to know what you guys think. All the wagons save a couple of Lionheart are kits we have built. Weathering of locos and wagons is by a great guy named Bob Dutta from Enfield.

In finishing have just managed to upload a pic of the Garden Test track. The eagle eyed amongst you will see 2O gauge tracks on the outer side and 3 OO tracks inner. We have too much OO stock to not run!. Ballasting of the O gauge track has progressed to 50% of the 10 sections now. No.1 son the expert. Layout takes 45 mins to set up.

This is a brilliant forum and I am pleased to be able to join - thanks!

Hello there fellow modelers.

I am Jack Girling. ( The No.1 son of sulzer )

I am a very keen railway enthusiast who really enjoys recreating the golden bygone age of railways. My interest lies in the 1930's through to the early 1980's. My keenest interest lies in the British Railways days of 1948-1968.
Both me and my dad have a very extensive and always growing collection of O gauge rolling stock. - The finest Loco being a very fine O gauge Br Maroon Duchess 46244 King George Vi. But I may be a little biased as My dearly missed Gran Parents bough it for me. Plus I am sure that Sulzer will try to convince you that a Gresley A4 is a finer loco :p

I am proficent in simple rolling stock kits such as many Parkside, Slaters and JLRT wagons . I am currently building a LMS 20ton breakvan. This will be finished as a unfitted item of stock in BR Grey. So far this is going very well and I am pleased to say that the handrails are finished- the handrails always seem to be the hardest part. look out for pictures to follow.

I have finished 2 years of education at Brockenhurst college. I studied a BTEC level 3 in engineering. I passed these 2 years with a triple distinction grade  . I have now obtained a Apprenticeship with a well known aviation company.:)
And unlike the paragraph lists above I am infact 18- Hope that was a Typo Dad ;)

Anyway Please look out for my posts.

I also have a YouTube Channel containing videos of a fraction of our Stock. here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/user/jbgirling/videos please check this link out and pass it on to anyone else you feel may be intersted.

Awwwwwwww Thanks dad. Your a brilliant modeler aswell. and may I take this opertuinity to say a public thank you for all you do. it really means a lot to me.
I see what you mean about the sprung draw bar now. can understand that if the instructions were bad for that part how frustrating it must have been. you must of felt like doing this >:headbang: before you found this forum.

A great introduction Jack, thanks for joining in and sharing your excellent videos with us:thumbs:

I'm quite partial to brake vans too - I'm hoping to build enough to run a brake van special one day:)

We like Brake Vans too Simon.......Son Jack has cracked the handrail game - I haven't the patience or eyesight for them. That very detail is crucial to the look of a model - makes or breaks it - how often do you see them for sale on e-bay with horribly crooked handrails....

Thank you Simon for your very kind comments it really does mean a lot to hear good feedback.

I do love to see a break van special.

We now have a GWR liveried 16t toad and a GWR permanent Way toad (built by me). In terms of BR Break vans we have a BR 20 ton bauxite break van. A ex-NE 20t break van in BR bauxite, a 20t Bauxite Toad (Built by me) and a 20 ton LMS break van which I am currently building and will be finished in BR grey as a unfitted Break van.

Please see atached photo. I must say I am quite Proud of this model.IMG_9399.JPG

Thats when they sell them with the handrails on. Most dont have them on. and most of the ones that do are crooked. as you say it really is a art getting them correct.

 Maybe I should make a thread with a bit of a guide.

Genuine congrats on your engineering qualifications and apprenticeship, this is no mean feat and it gives me hope for the UK's future hearing of a new generation with aspirations to build things. I wish you the very best with your career

Thank You very Much Jon.

That is very kind for you to say that. It really does mean a lot to me when people say such kind things as that.

I too am very proud to be able to say I am off a new generation of engineers. I have to say that the aeronautical industry is a big interest just like railways. To be given a apprenticeship in such a industry really is the opertiuinty I could have only dreamed of being given.

Once again thank you for your kind comments.

Jack
