Stolen from GOG Kettering Show

I have cross posted this from the GOG website.
There is good stuff about the show on the GOG forum too, but I thought this was important enough to post here

An unfortunate incident occurred yesterday to mar an otherwise excellent show.

Chris Smith of Invertrain suffered the loss of a loco kit, detailed below. It is a rather unusual prototype, so would be conspicuous if it appeared on any on-line auction site, or if it were offered for sale at any show or exhibition. Everyone is urged to keep their eyes open and report to Chris directly on 01383 880844 should the loco appear in print or be offered for sale.

The details of the kit are:
62c Models NBR class P/LNER G7 0-4-4 tank. The price, £240, is printed on the box.

Incidents like this, fortunately very rare, demonstrate the need for vigilance among traders and visitors when attending shows, especially when high value items are on prominent display.

For other, more pleasant, details about the Show, see the latest postings on the Kettering Spring Show thread.

Sadly I think I may have witnessed the theft but not followed it, for which I have to apologise to Chris. This was what I saw: at a time when it was particularly crowded I was heading slowly to Hobby Holidays stand which I now believe was next door to Invertrain. My recollection is that it would have been somewhere around midday. It was one of those situations where you have to weave through layers of people to reach your destination. As I did so I saw a male pick up a kit in a predominantly plain white box from the end of the stand next to Hobby Holidays but I noticed that the person somewhat hesitantly moved sideways towards the Hobby Holidays side of what I now know to be the Invertrain stand while still holding the kit in front of him. In doing so he blocked my intended path and I then went behind and past him and never saw him again. What I recall of him was that he was slim, not very tall maybe 5'8", clean shaven, fair hair, probably early 50s - I can't recall anything significant about him that would make him instantly recognisable. I am so sad to relate that I registered that his initial behaviour was strange - the sideways movement away from the centre of the stand - but that in my keenness to get to Hobby Holidays I allow the thought to slip out of my awareness.
