Here is a hint... the engine in the photo which is referenced by Rob in post no.#10 is a GNR Atlantic with a booster engine....
So we aren't looking at the same pic! I assumed (wrongly) that the discussion involved Dave's pic in post #8

Am I looking at the same photo as everyone else? Having exlarged the photo as much as I can, I can only see 4 wheels and 4 axleboxes. That surely makes it an 8-wheeler?

Dave
I suspect that what you can see is the yoke and twin bolster arrangment used on these 'American' 6-wheel bogies.

Mick,
Okay, so they're panelled - galvanised sheets over timber, rather than matchboarded. That's relatively to sort out with some sort of tape (copper, cellulose, etc)

Rob,
Crack on - I still can't see a show stopper!

I have managed to find drawings for the K stock, bodies, painting, bogies and under frame (also found article and drawings for Met Camms as well, but too late for this topic), sadly part 1 of the article eludes me which probably covers six wheelers, as does the article on Yorkshire Pullmans, but there is still a large pile of magazines to browse :).

Hi Mick, any info that you manage to pull together will be gratefully received.

Rob, look forward to seeing the Pullman train and the painting. I'm afraid I cannot assist :( with books as mine are on Pullman Cars of the Southern:) .

No problem Dave I have (or rather my good lady has) just ordered a book on the 12 wheeled cars so hopefully that will provide us both with needed detail info but thanks for the thought.

Hi Rob,

i forget the name of the series but the newish books on Pullmans are very informative. All three volumes. My mate has two of the volumes, lots of drawings, colour pics, detail etc. When i can remember the titles i will post.

Hi Rob, the one that we have ordered is "Pullman Profile No 1 The 12 Wheel Cars" by Anthony M Ford and is one of a set of three so I would think that it's from the series that you refer to.
