Telford 2014

I shall be there both days in an official capacity, demonstrating how "easy" it is to build various JLTRT kits under the company banner.

(I am not a staff member, but I have developed a good relationship with Laurie L, and he asked me if I wanted to do it for them. Who am I to decline?) :)

That's great news you should be able to complete another WD by the end of the show ;):D.

Good to see a healthy dose of S7 I.e. NONE, though my particular favourite is the West Wales group stating that S7 won't run on their test track due to clearances in the pointwork... Bit more to it than that chaps..

Tongue in cheek mode turned off.

I'd noticed that too; truth be told, there just aren't the S7 layouts out there...

Too true..! I'd have liked to have seen the test track of last year with all the turnouts and crossovers as promised numerous years back..

Just out of interest, does anyone know what percentage of Guild members model S7? :)

Interesting question. One I expect to have to resolve shortly...

I'll be at Telford all weekend with the Technical Committee stand and look forward to meeting friends old and new!

I also noticed that it was built with financial help from the Guild ! so why no S7 track ? .....thought the guild was about 7mm scale railways.
There, that'll set 'em all off JB. :)):))

I've got that nettle to grasp as well, but the Guild was apparently started for Gauge 0. That's as in track gauge 0, as in 32mm. So originally there was more in common with modelers working in SM32, than in S7 or 31.5 mm gauge.
So it's a tricky one. For a (7mm scale) test track what gauge (s) should it be built to...?

Anyway, I suggest we continue this discussion at Telford as I'll want to pick your brains...

Mmmm, I feel a crusade coming on.

Steph

Easy - outside line(s), pointwork etc. S7. Inside line(s), pointwork etc. 31.5

Separate test track for coarse scale and live steam.

That should create a nice them and us environment.:)

If we want to be pedantic, I measured some Hornby tinplate track a few years ago. The gauge was only slightly close to 32mm, tending toward 33mm.
