Found A train kinda blue but it's quite interesting the similarities between the British and the turkish system20140817_105011_resized-2.jpg
excuse the colours and the blurred pictures as the were taken off a coach fitted with ultraviolet window shades

And then the coach driver fainted at the wheel, a polish bloke went to the front of the coach stopped it and then we were evacuated to the hard shoulder

I think it ended up "plinthed" somewhere out there. Some wag had attached an 8E shed plate to the original Stanier smokebox door. It had been through the main works at Canciri (probably spelt wrong sorry!) gaining a Turkish smokebox door to which the works had re-attached the shedplate..
1983 I think it was

Yes, Turkish Railways famously ran Stanier 8F's for some years after the UK ended steam. They were called "Churchills" IIRC, as they went to Turkey during WW2.

/Anorak mode /OFF.

Edit. Hasn't one been brought back to the UK for preservation?

As for the Colonel's holibobs diet, I guess we'd better make extra room for him by the Test Track at Telford... :D

Ahhhh they do but I had to bring it with me if you know what I mean. It would have cost me 19 camels and a lifetimes subscription to jorders magazine.
