Timber tracks, laser cut buildings.

Whilst at the Telford exhibition last weekend I was taken by the laser cut timber buildings being shown on the Timber tracks stand, so much so I took up Brian Lewis's offer of buy two and the third one is free.

This is the first time I had built any buildings from wood, and I must admit I found the whole building process very enjoyable, I thought I had better start on the smallest of the three buildings being the waiting room for Church Norton.

Brian recommends a glue I had never heard of before called Aliphatic glue, this glue works a treat which is a good thing if your impatient like me. It grabs almost straight away and you only need the slightest amount to do the job.

Anyhow below is the waiting room which I started to build on Monday, so with a couple of hours each evening this is how it turned out this evening.

Hi Martyn,
That looks lovely! The paint job is superb! We're the posters included?
What other buildings do you have?
I picked up all the Tetbury ones including the cattle dock in May, and haven't started any yet. I was interested in buying the glue and it sounds worth getting :)
Really looking forward to seeing your other buildings progress, perhaps I may take a go at one of my smaller buildings

Hi,

I also brought the replica of Dymock station and a medium sized GWR goods shed. I thought I would have a quick peep at the instructions for the station tonight and somehow I think that kit might take a little longer, the instructions are on par to reading War and peace !

Regarding the posters, well Brian supplies some lovely GWR headed advertising boards but I am modelling the Western region in the 50's so they couldn't be used. I brought the posters and notice boards signs at the Reading show a good few years ago, so I do not know if they are still available, on the back of the pack the name and address is " The buffer stop shop " Station House, North Howden, East Yorks. Tele, 01430 431431.

I hope this is of some help,

Martyn.

Two more lovely buildings
I will order some glue.
Please could you tell me whose paints and colours you use, the finish looks excellent.

The primer is Humbrol acrylic spray Desert tan 237, this acrylic spray is great for a first coat on a timber surface as it really penetrates into the mdf. The top coats are by Phoenix precision paints P21 and P22, as for the roof felt is was any old colour that looked grey.

Hopefully I have whet your appetite and look forward to seeing a Tetbury building evolve on a thread, the Tetbury buildings especially the goods shed was a grand looking building considering its mundane use.

Thanks Martyn,
Seeing your waiting room has got me fired up!
I have the small parcel office which will be useful to ease me in to the (far) bigger builds :)
