I need a couple of Steam-Era Coach Roundel transfers for my 14; they were used on maroon coaches I think. Anyone got two they can spare me if I cover costs?
I used fox for the warning flashes, hmrs for the arrows and precision for the data panels and shed codes
I am impressed with the iwata, but it shows up my lack of finesse Im still waiting for the extractor to arrive so any major experiments will have to wait. I dont know if you have had much experience with acrylics, but its also a bit of a learning curve as well.Buckjumper said:Hi Cynric. I've been lurking since December, and I thought it was about time I popped my head above the parapet. No WR diesels on the horizon but plenty of GW stock to build for BF just around the corner, so I'll start a thread once I get going with them.
I look forward to seeing the results of your painting and decorating. The Iwatas are fantastic airbrushes - they atomise paint much better than anything else I've used, so I think you're going to enjoy it immensely.
Good plan  , I do like the steam era myself, but for me modelling is about nostalgia & I find it far more interesting to model scenes that I can remember28ten said:After a lot of indecision I have decided to split my building interests between GW and the hydraulics as I have a stash of kits covering both periods
I wouldn't narrow it down to pre-war, but I would agree the pre- Beaching steam era is probably the best era for UK railways & the GWR BLT certainly lends it's self to the modeller , but the older I get the more nostalgic for childhood memories I become , so give me Oxford Bags, Flairs & the excitement of the spotters & enthusiasts when one of the last few shabby blue Westerns came rolling into Reading with 12 MK1's & that awesome Maybach music when it set off again any day28ten said:I do agree, it is about nostalgia and I remember Choppers the Double deckers and curly wurly  but I think the railways pre WW1 must have been a magnificent sight, the sheer audacity of some of the engineering and the grand plans is something else, indeed it is that era between 1890 and 1910 that laid the foundations the subsequent development. there is no better line engineered line than Paddington- Bristol

I think thats the key, Its all just nostalgia. I think I will build a layout reflecting what I remember but also build other (GW) models that take my fancy and run them when im in the mood :laugh:Phill Dyson said:but the older I get the more nostalgic for childhood memories I become ,
