Any recommendations for the western? I was going to use Fox, but any suggestions welcome :D
I see precision labels do a custom TOPS panel so I might try one of those - if anybody could point me in the direction of a decent shot of one it would help :D

I have got an old sheet of them somewhere   I only need arrows, some warning flashes and the TOPS

The HMRS sheet contains double arrows, I use Fox warning flashes & data panels, but I will be giving the Precision data panels a go when I need some ;)

I used fox for the warning flashes, hmrs for the arrows and precision for the data panels and shed codes

I have ordered the warning flashes from FOX as I need to make some backing panels for the flashes before i can paint the cab front.

This might be a good place to try and cadge a couple of decals off someone

I need a couple of Steam-Era Coach Roundel transfers for my 14; they were used on maroon coaches I think. Anyone got two they can spare me if I cover costs?

like this http://www.ehattons.com/images/products/1400_4.jpg? I have a sheet but it is about 20 years old, you are welcome to any you want, if nobody else comes up with anything better (newer)

Yes, that's the style of roundel I need. (I'll reserve comment on the actual model... just glad I moved from 4mm scale... :p )

I used fox for the warning flashes, hmrs for the arrows and precision for the data panels and shed codes
Rob's comment here illustrates something I find most frustrating in 7mm; no-one does an 'all in' sheet for each Era, with a mix of numbers and symbols etc on one sheet, or in one pack. In 4mm I had several dry-rub sheets that were like this and saved you having to buy sheets full of one item just for a couple of transfers.

If no-one else comes forward I'll take you up on the offer, Cynric.

Hello Adrian  I hope we might see some more of your work even though it isnt WR. Once I have mastered this new airbrush (and acrylics) I will have a couple of vehicles that might be suitable for an appearance on Basilicafields :D

Hi Cynric. I've been lurking since December, and I thought it was about time I popped my head above the parapet. No WR diesels on the horizon  but plenty of GW stock to build for BF just around the corner, so I'll start a thread once I get going with them.

I look forward to seeing the results of your painting and decorating. The Iwatas are fantastic airbrushes - they atomise paint much better than anything else I've used, so I think you're going to enjoy it immensely.

I am impressed with the iwata, but it shows up my lack of finesse :D Im still waiting for the extractor to arrive so any major experiments will have to wait. I dont know if you have had much experience with acrylics, but its also a bit of a learning curve as well.
After a lot of indecision I have decided to split my building interests between GW and the hydraulics as I have a stash of kits covering both periods

Good plan  , I do like the steam era myself, but for me modelling is about nostalgia & I find it far more interesting to model scenes that I can remember

I do agree, it is about nostalgia and I remember Choppers the Double deckers and curly wurly  but I think the railways pre WW1 must have been a magnificent sight, the sheer audacity of some of the engineering and the grand plans is something else, indeed it is that era between 1890 and 1910 that laid the foundations the subsequent development. there is no better line engineered line than Paddington- Bristol

I wouldn't narrow it down to pre-war, but I would agree the pre- Beaching steam era is probably the best era for UK railways & the GWR BLT certainly lends it's self to the modeller ;) , but the older I get the more nostalgic for childhood memories I become :D , so give me Oxford Bags, Flairs & the excitement of the spotters & enthusiasts when one of the last few shabby blue Westerns came rolling into Reading with 12 MK1's & that awesome Maybach music when it set off again any day ;)

I think thats the key, Its all just nostalgia. I think I will build a layout reflecting what I remember but also build other (GW) models that take my fancy and run them when im in the mood
Bizarrely I want to build 60/70s shopping precinct with a Budgens

I think the 1970's is gaining in popularity as a modelling period, I'm glad that corgi introduced all those cars which help, but there is a lack of figures at the moment, I would also like some 1/43 1970's motorcycles & bikes (especially Choppers & racers).
