Hi Cynric. I've been lurking since December, and I thought it was about time I popped my head above the parapet. No WR diesels on the horizon  but plenty of GW stock to build for BF just around the corner, so I'll start a thread once I get going with them.

Hi Adrian

It's nice to see you here and I'm sure we're all looking forward to seeing a workbench thread from you soon.

I do indeed! It's almost finished, but it was not the easiest build. I also have a WEP brakevan, but some of the outside framing didn't quite fit, so it's on the shelf! The other problem I encountered was accuratly putting the 45deg bevel on the frames, it would be a great candidate for a resin kit, rather like an outside framed siphon....

Ian Kirk does an outside framed Syphon G (injection moulded plastic) if it's any help :) , I would like a vertical planked inside framed version at some stage but unfortunately his inside framed kit is of the horizontal framed type.

I know the one you mean, I heard a rumour JLTRT might do one. although I could be done quite easily with an etched body. Shall I add it to the todo list?

I think I can manage to resist the urge to pay ?200+ for one Cynric [/quote:dh9yauf1]
I know what you mean! It's not a hugely difficult vehicle to scratchbuild.

You and me both Phill  . I bought an Ian Kirk inside frame syphon, didnt check the planking and found it was horizontal  Ended up doing a major alteration. Etches for a syphon g inside frame vertical planking mmmmmm, that would be interesting how much that would cost.

Cheaper than you might think! All the castings/ bogies are available so it's only the body and roof. I would roughly guess a small batch of half a dozen could cost about ?50 ea for the etch. I do have a copy of the HMRS siphons book so at least that helps with dimensions

I have several spares from a new HMRS Methfix sheet if you want a few.
Apologies for not getting back sooner... had a far-from-smooth swap of ISPs which knocked me off-line and even cut our phone off for 3 days... It's been Hell, Folks!!! :vista:  :headbang: :shit:

As I've not used Methfix before, can I try Cynric's older stuff first? Oh and welcome to the Forum, BJ!!

Changing ISP's frightens me  I couldnt care less about the TV/Satellite, but dont mess with my internet connection!
Email me your address and I will pop some in the post.
Methfix are dead easy and in many ways easier to fix, but I guess it depends on what you are used to :D
