Western: JLTRT and Heljan.

Guys,
I've now received my set of window frames from Pete (what a charming chap to deal with) at somewhat less than the £45 referred to above. They make an interesting comparison with the versions produced by Dan; I dug out my set and put them in the bottom left hand corner as a comparison. To my utter delight the two products seem compatible, so I may well end up with an open window in my Wessie...

Apologies for the slightly rubbish photo; taken in a hurry, without a flash to avoid the reflections.

The "screen wipe" blanks are a good idea!!!

Jordan,

Actually, I'm really not sure about that. So I build and paint my Western, glaze it, weather it and then remove a section of etch and fit the windscreen wipers?

Can't see that working myself...

Just how many Wizzos are shedded on your workbench?

Or put another way, why go for another set of frames?

Graham,
Only the one! I've had Dan's frames in stock for a while, in the interest of using glass glazing and potentially having a window open. However, seeing the link to the PHD window frames I saw a possibly of replacing the chunky JLTRT ones moulded in to the kit, as well as having the bright window beadings I need for my loco.
Just to clear up any confusion, what you can see in the picture is one set of Dan's etches and one set of the PDH etches.

Not got any of Dan's etches spare?
Anyone?

Jeff

I found the package the etches came in last night, but unfortunately, it was empty! Seems I was wrong in thinking I had a set left, so apologies for that. I'll have to enquire with the etchers about getting some more done, but I may need an expression of interest from one or two others first, to make it cost effective. How many sets were you after please?

Regards

Dan

Dan,

Which frames of the JLTRT kit are replaced by your etches?
Roughly how much were the parts when last done?

thanks, Graham

I'd like two sets please, Dan.

Dog Star: Dan's were for the side windows, they allowed the window to be modeled open, and the little handle that slides the window was part of the etch. they were also designed to make using glass in the windows easier.
If you go back to post 25, Dan's window etches are bottom left.

Price, I haven't a clue.
