 I wonder if 47484 'Isambard Kingdom Brunel' had hasty collision damage repairs as the front without the headcode panel appears to have been painted without primer (judging by the way the paint is falling off)

The first class 25's were introduced to the Western Region in November 1970 (to Newport), but they were introduced to Devon & Cornwall in June 1971 ;) .

A few more slides taken between 1977 & 1979, a bit more variety than can be seen now :( , although I wish I had a camera here a few years earlier when the Westerns & Warships would have been hauling these services

Yes me too Rob, I do wish I had a camera that little bit sooner as all I managed were a handful of very poor Hydraulic pics, how about you? did you take any pics at the time either Diesels or Hydraulics ? :)

Hey, at least you guys got to actually see them in service...!! As I've said elsewhere, my mate didn't get me into spotting until the summer of 77...

Hi Phill, yes i took alot of pics from 81 onwards, but only a handfull before. I had to rely on my dad for pics of westerns as i was abit too young to have my own camera :( . However most of my prints i sold on e-bay as they were stuck in boxes in the loft and at the time i needed to raise some much needed cash. I did get quite a bit of cash overall, selling the prints at ?1.25 for a pair of 6x4. That was the starting price and of course some of the better stuff (more unusual or more popular) went for more. In one case two 76's went for ?7.85 for the pair  . As for westerns my dad got a few but i have bought copies and cd's of images etc. I'm always on the look out for them , in blue of couse

I agree I didn't see any in service and to my shame didn't hear a warship drone until 1994 on the west somerset, but that day I was lucky enough to meet up with a kindly sole who worked there and he took me through the engine room of a hymek er wow almost as good as driving a 47 from Shrewsbury to Oxley
