Same for me as for 2012:

1) finish my 517 build;
2) build a wagon or two to go with it; and
3) build some track to put it all on!

Given where I have got to with the 517, it will probably be wagon first, followed by track, followed by finally getting the chassis rolling!

There's nothing like putting pressure on before the year's begun, but here goes.

Layout
At least get to the track laying stage of my shunt-0-rama
More research on Westerfield and freight movements

Wagons
Finish the 3 I've started, do more - lots more. I'd like a fast freight train, a couple locals, milk, oil, grain and perishables. Maybe also a machinery train from Ransomes or Cranes.

Locos
Finish anything half built (31 & 24) or not built (Hymek & 04) or need attention (40) and sell them so I can get some appropriate for Westerfield, namely an earlier, better 31 and 24s, a 15 and 21

I have tried to come to a decision as to what I feel I need to progress in the coming year....this has not been easy because of my eldest Son who keeps changing our direction (from Polar Star to Merlin to 37408 to R&R 36T to... ) and because I seem to acquire roles in other peoples projects (viz, Artillery Lane and Weeping Angels Yard for Adrian and Hartley Hill for Mr. Lewsey).

So here is my commitment:-
[1] to progress our Forest of Dean layout to the point that we can show at our club Open Day in September;
[2] to build and lay the trackwork of Hartley Hill;
[3] to produce the track plan and baseboard plans for West Wycombe (GW&GC Jt., October 1910);
[4] cajole Adrian regularly;

[5] finish some MR three plank wagons which I started in 1975.
[6] try to complete some GWR P7 ballast hoppers.

Must be mad, and no time to sit in the back row.

What I wrote in December 2011 looks rather familiar... been nagging me all year long. I am somewhat ashamed to even think about what has been done. I shall take a few moments to consider how to describe a year of ineptitude.

I would like a summer in 2013 please :rolleyes:.........especially for all the WT outdoor types !

New Layout

We (my son & myself) will make a start on an indoor layout. At present I'm torn between a easily achievable small end to end layout of a BR(WR) depot & yard.......or a more ambitious roundy roundy layout based on a fictional section of dilapidated early 1970's S & D. :confused::)

That's all folks ! :eek:

Phill :)

Hear hear to the idea of a good summer:thumbs:

If it isn't too cheeky and feel free to ignore, I'd love to see you tackling the dilapidated dieselly S&D idea, this is a great theme that I'm not sure I have ever seen modelled.

I kept on at Captain Kernow about it half a lifetime ago but he completely ignored me, as usual:))

From a year ago:
1.) Build more than one turnout for the garden line before spring.
I have very nearly finished just the one:oops:
2.) Lay (1) outside in spring
No:oops:
3.) Construct whole of track base for continuous run in garden
Well of course not:rolleyes:
4.) Lay more track around at lest some of (3)
Only a tiny bit more was laid:(

The same again except I didn't manage 1.) - poo!

5.) Finish Minging Waddle (probably)
Very nearly completed:thumbs:

Finished!!

6.) Progress 121 railcar to at least resin cabs stage
Pretty much there:thumbs: (only its a 122 not a 121)

No progress - Poo!

7.) Other stuff that I could mention but had better not (like a million standard class seats in resin)
Ahem

LBSCR wagons, Bollards and brakes!

8.) More other stuff I haven't even thought of yet
Slaters SDJR van more or less built, Marshcastle orbital project significantly progressed:)

Van finished, brake van and fruit D started.Marshcastle orbital project about to get some more action.

For 2012, as I am taking Pomparles Siding to RailWells in August then Manning Wardle completion is required and I really ought to build the new scale chassis for 28A and paint it properly.

Close but no cigar.

Otherwise I'd really like to see more track out in the garden.

Wouldn't we all ducky.

Finally, I'd like to have started using my lathe in a meaningful way by the end of 2012.

Hah!

2013?

  1. Finish the brake van.
  2. Finish the Fruit D.
  3. Build 28A's chassis.
  4. At least cast Class 122 cabs in resin (or prove it can't be done, either allowable)
  5. Build more track, including at least two more points
  6. Buy Mark Wood wheels for Bachmann 03 and consider re-wheeling same
  7. Take delivery of RTR Mk 1 coaches
  8. Start building Wenbridge Junction station infrastructure.
That should keep me busy, I wonder if I will add any "goat" projects - I hope so:))

In amongst the day job of building, painting and weathering models for others:
  • Finish at least one shunting Buck from the baker's dozen.
  • Build the Ragstone Class 209 Coffee Pot once Andy Beaton releases it to a grateful world.
  • Assemble half a dozen GE open wagons.
  • Try to learn Templot (again) or,
  • Coerce some kind soul to knock out the small and ever-so-easy plan for Angel Yard for me (pathetic begging mode off).
  • Build the baseboards.
  • Send the aforementioned Templot plans to Graham and await delivery of masterpieces of PW.
  • Lay, electrify, ballast and weather the PW.
  • Have a loco running on the layout by December 31st 2013.

Who said it would have anything to do with railway modelling?

(And when do you start?)

A long list of projects but priority must go to those already started. At the top of the pile is my early 1920's 'Manchester Diner' (Pines after 1927) which, after a good start has stalled.

2012 was a good year for the North Somerset Light Railway with Tucking Mill making its exhibition debut in near completed form so I would like to push the Bath project forward in 2013.
