When your mojo goes AWOL

Springer? It was the neat short coat that threw me (well that and how clean he looks :D).

Is MOTIVATION a second cousin of MOJO? They are definitely related somehow.

I'm so relieved to see that others too occasionally suffer temporary Mojo failure and have problems juggling their bubbles.

Bubbles come in all sizes - I didn't make the Scale 7 meet due to having to load up and bid farewell to a bubble :'(
As you point out, reality has to win in the end, and at least it has gone to a very good home:

We trim all our dogs regularly, Spaniel ears are a devil for getting seeds in and creating healthy vet bills, as we own a horse and rent another they are often out in the fields around the stables, not content with dragging their ears through goodness knows what, they also drag themselves through it as well. So regular bath and clipping for all of them

Wow, bet you need a big puncture repair kit for those tyres! Looks like an old RAF aircraft parts trailer, sort of thing you'd see Wellington fuselages or wings on, may be a Tallboy bomb trailer? Though doubt those wheels would fit under the rear belly of a Lancaster or Stirling to load it.

It's a 45/60T Crane float trailer: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21437618@N02/7074625149/

The availability of heavy tyres was the limiting factor in trailer design in those days - 45T at 12mph, or 60T at 6mph!

Picking up speed along the Off Topic branch - Speaking of tyres, I need some 14.00 x 24 28ply tyres. The last lot I got were from dock container straddle cranes being dismantled - don't suppose you know of any at your place do you, Mick?

Might have, we don't have straddles anymore, Southampton does though. Not sure what our trannies (slang for Transtainers which were market developers, much like all domestic carpet cleaning devices are called hoovers) tyres are but will ask around tomorrow.

Just read through the whole thread, and I really like Mick's 'bubble' approach - partly because I recognise my own modelling philosophy. I have a whole load of orbiting bubbles that occasionally come into focus for a month or so every couple of years and then move on. I don't finish much - well, anything really - but I don't get bored, and enjoy what I do.

Where I'm really bad is letting go of bubbles that have expired, and moving the models on. Hmmm, time for a sales section.

I don't mind this thread wandering off down by-roads and alleyways. In fact, I actively encourage it.
LOL, I'm pleased about that, as I realized late last night I'd dragged it a country mile off course, however, in my defence, Mojo's or loss there off are often nothing to do with the hobby and are frequently outside forces, these have a far more subversive effect than people give credit to.

I suppose the point I'm trying to make is, the smaller your interest field, the easier it is to loose your mojo. Having diversified interests is good, so long as they are managed accordingly.

Mojo stability is proportional to the number and size of your interest bubbles and the frequency of their orbital path.

.....as we own a horse and rent another they are often out in the fields around the stables, ....

I own three horses :), a legacy from my late wife who was very keen on horses. I don't ride at all. :) One is an eventer - Miserden Velvet - riding at 1* level, ridden and looked after by my grand-daughter

and the other two are a Welsh C class pony and a Dartmoor pony, both , thankfully, loaned out so contributing something to their upkeep. The price of things like Finney kits pall into insignificance compared with the livery costs of horses, and don't get me started on vets' bills. :)

I think this is one of the most relevant statements I've read - fantastic. Just memorising it for re-quote.

We should start a club of two LOL, my eldest daughter is horse mad but thankfully now old enough to support her wishes, currently studying horse management and agriculture, she rides at competitions, usually indoors or small stadiums, only local stuff to keep her eye in but her chosen vocation is going to be horse care and instruction so shes going through her certifications now to become an acredited instructor and trainer. The youngest is just starting out, hence the loaned pony, got caught the first time with buying everything LOL.

My grand-daughter is in her last year of an equine management course at Hartpury College, but I believe that she will probably be earning her keep in other ways after she graduates - she's got the offer of a good office job which will pay her reasonable well, so she is being pragmatic. :) She says that she will take over the livery and insurance costs of Velvet, so I'm not going to stop her. :)

Your grand-daughter. Last year of college.
I remember when you didn't even have in-laws.

I feel old, all of a sudden.
