Workshop thread

Its a bit quiet so I thought I would post some shots of my newly re arranged workshop. I have accepted an increasing number of commissions this year and I decided that I needed more workbench space the four shots give an idea of what I have done. It needs tidying up as it is still a mess but its getting there....

Your untidy work area looks like mine when I've had a good tidy up .......nice work space you've got there though Cynric :D . I think I will wait until a few other members have posted theirs before I post mine, as will give me time to tidy up a bit

Cheers Phill

Its nice having a 'proper' painting area  I have spent a happy couple of hours working on D1011's cab :D
I should have said that the middle computer doubles up as an area for my boy to do some drawing and play dough

That there workshop is bigger than my railway room twice over
It's our cellar which I converted, it's about 18ftx 30ft divided into two rooms. It's a true bunker!

a great workshop there Cynric - is the other room your wine cellar?

Have you worked out yet what the ideal floor covering is so that the bits that fall off of the bench are never lost and easily found? :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Hopefully back to the workbench this week now that the new fence is in place.

regards

Mike

The other room has my lathe and other assorted tools. I find tiles make a good floor, although they are a little unforgiving if you drop an assembly. In the past I have used cork tiles, I avoid carpet like the plague!

That's a pretty impressive workshop Cynric.

We have a cellar in our place (about 12' x 14'), that's just crying out to be converted, but it'll cost about ?16,000 to have it done professionally. So, until those awfully nice people at Camelot pull their fingers out and send a large consignment of cash in this direction, it remains a place to store garden tools....!

Don't be fooled by the 'diet pepsi' can or the 'Wii fit' case! It's a ruse

Hi Barnaby, Very nice, what size is your workshop. Are you having a "layout" in there? or is it just a workshop

Ok here's mine.

workbench 001.jpg
It's uncharacteristically neat at the moment; quite by coincidence the grot had built up to such a level that it hindered work so was tidied up mid week, honest.

workbench 002.jpg
The scuzz removal programme has yet to reach the over-spill area yet. The bureau (fiver from the local skips) acts as my project storage unit. It's full of stuff that should get done over the next few months, I have other cupboards where more long term, less likely to see completion potential projects live.

workbench 003.jpg
The best bit though is the view from the window, which perhaps goes some way to explain why I spend so much time doing so very little.

Modesty and the desire to slope around incognito normally precludes me from appearing in person on the interweb, but having photographic proof that the sun does indeed shine from out of my @r$e seemed to good to withhold.
