Dan,
what a good find, although there are errors in the photographs of Aberbeeg. Remember Rule 1!

Thanks Simon - It is indeed a good find and I wish it had been me who'd discovered it, but it's Adam that deserves the credit on this occasion.

So much great stuff on that site! Will have to book a day off to go through it all:)).

One that stands out to me is of class 47 "Thor" at Swindon............takes me back:'(.

Well found sir. I remember these from the site that folded (can't remember the name) and it was a great loss. The early 70's shots around Frome and Westbury are absolute gems - reminds me of when I was a lad:)

Bob, I remember Thor well - it retained GFYE after gaining its TOPS number. One of the few local 47s we saw that didn't herald the 'not another duff' cry!!

These at Westbury, our usual spotting haunt, caught my eye

from about 1974 we were allowed to go over to Bristol for the day - usually on one of these 'fart carts'!

This was the sort of thing we went for - the view from the end of the platform. That said we didn't like the Hoovers as we knew it spelt the end of the Wezzies. A few years later they rubbed salt in the wounds by giving them warship names.

What a fantastic site.

Yes that pretty much sums up my feelings towards the 50's in those days;)..........from what I remember the Hoovers were more or less universally hated in then for replacing the Westerns:(
