Ok so who's going?? Unfortunately this year the S7 stand won't be there but it will be from next year onwards. I've begged the wife to let me go on the Monday as it's Bramblewicks last appearance.

Will be present on the Saturday, usually I try to avoid it like the plague becaof the crowds, bur Mrs C wants to have a wander round town and the shops are shut on the Sunday and Monday because of Easter. Plus my self and a few others have an afternoons refreshments planned in The Maltings.

Ah the Maltings, a favoured establishment of mine. Whenever a trip to te search engine beckons at the NRM it usually means me and my mate have a wonder round and a look at some drawings followed by pie and chips and a couple of jars at the Maltings

Peter and I are there from Fri to Tue... assisting Bob Alderman with Albion Quarry - which is why I asked Mick if he could take his Maltby wagon to the show.

I'll be stewarding Friday, Saturday and Monday. If anyone wants temporary help with shunting please let me know.

What is this fascination with the Maltings? York has numerous better real ale pubs, coming out on top at the moment is the new one on the station - only 20 different beers and a wonderful building. Closer to the Racecourse, towards the upper end of Micklegate is Brigantes - usually about 10 local beers on (although I thought the 7.4% IPA by Great Heck was very uninteresting). Also off Micklegate a bit nearer the city centre is the Ackorne and through Victoria Bar is the Golden Ball - now owned by the Community! If anyone is staying in the B&Bs on Holgate Road the Volunteer just around the corner from the railway bridge has been completely remodelled and is now very nice (it used to be dreadful, quite out of keeping with this up and coming area). If you are staying off Fulford road then near Skeldergate bridge is the Swan and the Slip Inn. All of this without going into the centre at all!

Paul,

Yep, another firm supporter of the Station Tap here. I'm hoping for a pint or three there after visiting the show on the Saturday.

I had a great time at York today, lovely to meet Dog Star and a few others, lots of chatting and drinking tea done. And the rest of the time stood watching Bramblewick, simply breath taking:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Mick brought along a couple of his PO wagons and I think that they are a real treat to the eyes.

Jonpaul (LNERJP) stopped by the Quarry and we chewed the cud over S7 axles for Gronks, good to see what WTers can do to help each other.
