Ztc chips..

Hi All...

Peter Hunt of Perfect Miniatures has asked me to seek a little info on some chips that he has in stock. All part of the private collection of kits and bits that he is selling.

There are quite a few ZTC 203 and 214 chips. It looks like they're not sold now, and so wondered if anyone had any info on them. Are they standard DCC, or the strange ZTC system from a few years back etc...?

Many thanks for anything I can pass on..

JB.

Don't rate em. It's very difficult to work out where ZTC's designs have come from historically and I have run in to great trouble with the few I've had; turned out they were Digitrax in ZTC labels. As such, they're not a ZTC-only thing, just a slightly rubbish DCC implementation.

So saying, I'm not universally dismissive of the ZTC range having had some success with bits they do; the PC interface is wonderful.

Not sure I'd go that far, you only have to look at Digitrax reputation to know they're good in some applications.

It's very difficult to predict what individuals will make of any decoder, but generally I'd stick with the Zimo (and ESU?) decoders you're familiar with.

Those are very old decoders. I have a PDF of the old manual. I don't think I can post it here, I can send via a PM (1.7mb)

These are from the 90s I still have some 203s somewhere. If you want to sell them put them on eBay someone will buy them.
