A day out in Kaohsiung

On Friday I gave a training session to engineers from Kaohsiung metro and decided to make a weekend of it. Kaohsiung is not a place I know well. It was the main manufacturing area in Taiwan before most of the cheap assembly works were hived off to China. It still has a lot of heavy industry - steel making and chemical works. It also has a large port area. The port used to have its own Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) station but this is now closed and the route to it taken over by the tram system. But lurking in the old station area we find the following:

I rather like the Japanese built pacifics.

Refreshingly clear of graffiti, as I guess is the norm there.
Just left for those who wish to, to appreciate.
