Bachmann 31-998 LMS 10001 BR black and chrome early emblem.

Can anyone advise if this model represents the locomotive as built please?

Or does it represent 10001 at some stage before it changed to green and went to the Southern having had alterations made to fit the Southern loading gauge and additional lamp fittings added?

I can't say for sure, because I don't know enough about the prototype, but a quick search shows that the model is definitely depicted prior to transfer to the SR: no extra lamp irons. I assume that would be as new?

I’d say Bachmann got it pretty much right. When two nearly identical locos went through so many detail changes through their relatively short lives, it can be a minefield of engine pickers.

Anyway, here’s my O Gauge take on the as-built fresh-out-of-Derby-works-in-1948 10001. How does it compare to Bachmann's effort?
