7mm Ressaldar's kit building swansong - verse the second - D6320

During the building of 6326 I was offered a kit, complete with all of the lost wax castings and wheels by a fellow WTer who had bought it from me in March 2016! Having accepted my offer, it was then a question of which loco and which era. Having re read my books I discovered that the first loco to be allocated to OOC for a trial period was in fact D6326, still in original plain green, so the answer was simple

London, Old Oak Common 81A.

The parcel arrived yesterday and the contents checked - all ok. So the first task will be to wash all of the resin castings to get rid of any release agent and the like and then rinse in warm water and dry - a task for tomorrow when we return from shopping. This afternoon was taken up with installing a sound decoder etc into a Sang Cheng Gauge 1 L&Y Pug 51230, which despite the larger size, it was still a shoehorn job at the end of the day but an enjoyable diversion. The number range is D6313 - 6333.

Jumping ahead thinking about paint colour references, I intend using the following

Main body Green BS224

Roof panel Grey BS638

Body stripe Ford Highland Green

RAL alternatives (in order of preference)

6002 Leaf Green
6035 Pearl Green
6029 Mint Green
6028 Pine Green

I welcome your thoughts on the above.

Great to see you building another example Mike, and that is a very lovely picture that you flagged up too.

I took a pre-order for the new Wild Swan all colour diesel hydraulic book the other day (still not arrived - don't ask).

The caller was an ex Old Oak second man and was really funny to talk to. When I asked him what he thought of the Class 22, his reply was that they were "lovely little engines" and "good for sleeping". Priceless!

The new book has a belting shot of a Class 22 on a dinky little freight at Falmouth.

I do like a D63xx, with possibly the sad face doing it for me. There will be a 4mm Dapol one running on Polsarrett and a 7mm one for Pencarrow is on the wants list. In actual fact the loco rosters for both layouts will be the same. Going to be strange owning the same loco in 2 scales!

One thing that is bothering me with the new build, what is the name of the colour of the 'off? white' stripe on the lower body side and is it available as a rattle can? I have heard 'Ford Highland Green' mentioned but I think that that refers to the Class 14 & 17 cabs.

Any suggestions would be welcome.
