7mm On Heather's Workbench - small and perfectly formed

Richard, I still need to call you. It completely slipped my mind over the weekend.

Easing back into the workbench, with a view to finishing this loco so I can start weathering. Here is a shot showing the cab details.

I have fitted the buffers properly, and the couplings. The front buffers needed the threaded end chopped back a bit to avoid fouling the sandboxes. The crew are glued in, and the glazing fitted to the spectacles. Now I have the right transfers for the tanks, that's pretty much the final details.

Ah, yes, re-engineering the coupling rod joints…

I love the handbrush Heather, not something I have seen modelled before:thumbs:

Thanks Rob. It's part of the set of tools and bits you can buy from Heroes of the Footplate. I reckoned the cab is too small for a larger brush, and a hand brush would be ideal for keeping things spick and span.

Thanks Heather, I wasn't aware of those - there is quite a variety.0

I have a few sets of the Peter Roles tools in stock but apart from a shovel they are mainly hand tools, although I am rather taken by the tea billy. I would have posted a link but the site doesn't seem to want to load at the moment.

Very nice, a stunning bit of modelling - well done. I like the little details like the bent wires on the rear spectacle plates and the insulated pipe along the footplate is very very effective.

As usual the photo's are a cruel enlargement of any issues so please don't take this the wrong way. The only thing I'd say as a suggestion is to trim the length of the crankpins, I think that is the only thing that stands out for me and trimming that back close to the crankpin nuts would finish it off perfectly. So as I say a brilliant job and I hope the customer is satisfied!

Hi Adrian.

Yes, the crankpins (and the joining rivet) still need to be sorted out. It's on the cards for today's session at the bench. I also need to weather the frames a little.

EDIT: I am collecting a MetalSmiths rolling road at Reading in a week or so. Until the loco's had a proper running in session, I plan to leave the crankpins at full length - just in case. I will sort the knuckle joints out, though.

Fantastic work Heather, any chance of a view of the rolling road on arrival as I'm in the market for one
