  • A 2mm Finescale Diesel Shunter

    Mick Simpson

    Issue 252 (2017)

    p.27

    2mm/2mm FS

Mick Simpson described the simple conversion of a Graham Farish LNER J39 to 2mm finescale in MRJ 238; now he takes a look at the newly released 08 diesel shunter, and builds an etched replacement chassis to enhance the R-T-R body. With the ever-supportive 2mm Scale Association making available the parts, this well designed and straightforward-to-build etched chassis kit should encourage those new to the scale to develop their skills, and Mick's clear and readable text will give them the confidence to have a go. Now read on.

  • A Beginner's Turnout Kit for 2mm scale

    Mick Simpson

    Issue 243 (2015)

    p.311

    2mm/2mm FS

Since launching Easitrac, a simple to assemble plain track, the 2mm Scale Association have developed an equally simple kit for a turnout. Here Mick Simpson tells us how the design evolved and then shows how to use it to build a turnout. We see this as one of the most important and welcome developments in 2mm scale modelling and would like to congratulate the Association for having the enthusiasm and foresight to produce such an exciting and ground-breaking product.

  • Launching into 2FS

    Mick Simpson

    Issue 238 (2015)

    p.115

    2mm/2mm FS

The 2mm Association has striven to make 2mm modelling easier and attainable, not least with the introduction of the Easitrac system and the soon to be introduced turnout kits. However, here Mick Simpson makes imaginative use of another new innovation, a split-frame chassis conversion kit on a Graham Farish LNER J39. The chassis on the RTR model incorporates hornblocks and redesigned wheels, and these have become the key to the new conversion kit. There has never been a better time to indulge in this scenic scale.
