GWR 29, previously named “Burwarton” was delivered to the Cleobury Mortimer & Dutton Priors Light Railway in1908 from Manning, Wardle & Co. Rebuilt to pannier tank form by the GWR in 1924 loosing its name in the process before finally being scrapped in 1954 by British Railways.
GWR 29 is seen here in a similar position at the bottom of the incline to Graig Wen colliery.

Hudswell Clarke w/n 939 was supplied new to the Swansea Harbour Trust in 1911 and numbered 14. It became 943 under GWR ownership being “Swindonised” in 1926. BRITISH RAILWAYS renumbered it in 1948 and it remained in Swansea until in the late ‘50’s it was transferred to Clee Hill before being scrapped in 1960.

1142 catches the early morning sunlight preparing th climb the incline to Graig Wen colliery. Graig Wen loco shed must be getting rather crowded by now, we wonder what’s going on?

This was my first attempt at a gauge O brass locomotive kit and I was delighted to be awarded first prize in a Warley MRC Open day competition a few years ago.

The Swansea Harbour Trust took delivery of this Hawthorne Leslie locomotive w/n 2781 in 1909 numbering it 13. It was renumbered 974 by the GWR being repaired at Swindon in 1924. It was renumbered 1144 by British Railways and was scrapped in 1960 having spent all its life in the Swansea area.
1144, another Crymlyn A Shop product, is seen here preparing to climb the incline to Graig Wen colliery.

Introduced by Churchward in 1910 but apparently a modernised Cornish Railways design by Holcroft, 1361 is still occasionally borrowed to help out at Graig Wen colliery. Once again, she is seen here at the bottom of the incline to the colliery although actually on the line from the coal exchange sidings.
A brass rtr product from San Chang sold under the Tower Models label she had a correct smoke box door fitted and was painted by Chris Basten of Dragon Models and lightly weathered by Barry Oliver of Active Weathering. A minor problem with the suspension was repaired by the Boyos of Crymlyn A Shop.
