Thanks for all your kind comments.Due to various ongoing cardio health issues I dont do as much these days but managed to get these two virtually finished as they were started a couple of years ago. The 81 is the third for the same fella just needs lights, nos and crests now.

Here are some photos of the other two I made some years ago. I did post some photos of them but maybe not on this site - cant remember !And that is how to make an entrance. Can we have more picture's of the 81 please as I am going to get a few of those for myself.
I built both of these Cl 81s in 2006 and 2008. I made a small rectangular plastic box and shoehorned it behind the marker panel and in front of the cab dashboard etch with two leds for backlighting.I like that
Thanks Ian, although you cant see it, the cab desks were built from scrap plasticardAlways wanted to build a 73, yours looks very good.

A couple of minor observations if I may.... cringes waiting for the WT mafia to give me another drubbing LOL
Paint schemes, very few locos carried yellow panels and two pantographs, unlike other classes that had yellow panels added from mid 62 onward on the LMR; the electric fleet did not begin to receive theirs until late 65 and most had them by mid 67. The original AL1-5 began loosing their second pantographs from mid 65 onward so it is very rare to see twin pantographs and yellow warning panels, I've only found five so far. E3013 had lost her second pantograph by May 66 and had a yellow panel then, I've no photos of E3013 with dual pantographs and yellow panels.
Second point is the blue cab front and I expect this is a casting issue rather than painting, the blue below the cab screens should be horizontal and on a level with the sides below the cab side windows, the ledge of the cab front and sides to the windscreen is also blue, only the cab window plate work is white. It looks like the casting has a distinctive dip in the centre over the head code box and the blue line follows this, in reality it should be flat and parallel with the head code and base of the cab front.
Conversely the top of the wind screen plate work has an upward bulge but the model is flat; at a wild guess it's almost like the screen has been etched upside down.
Fully appreciate the models are more aids to scratch building than perfect kits LOL, just 'personal' observations that's all.
Nice models all the same
Mmmmmmm you have made some very nice models and they are Finished so be proud of them

Traction magazine April 2000 p.30, photo of E3013 in blue with syp and two pantos dated 1964. Yes the shape may be not 100% correct but its pretty much there . Look at RJH model of the 1000/1 and if you have built one or three you will know what I mean and another is their Cl.37 and the Western. I wont mention the problems but still pretty good kits and at that time with nothing else available they started many people into modern image building in brass in 7mm.mmm ..........thank's for sharing that with us Mick
