Thought you might have gone for something like this hybrid - it would keep the punters talking. One of mine taken at Man Vic in the early 80's.

Looks like a Derby unit leading a Met Cam unit.

See I wanted an SPTE 101 and the 156 will go orange too, but, should I do another first generation DMU this caught my eye some time back. 105+101+120 combination:

As to the VGA from yesterday, I managed to get a coat of gloss on the VGA last night, while the boss is still in the land of Slumber I've sat in the kitchen this morning and added the transfers to the VGA. Satin Varnish and a couple of paint touch ups and it should be ready for traffic.

That would be something. One of those where you would have to have a copy of the photo handy should it appear at an exhibition.

This doesn't really fit here or my layout thread, but now that the first wall is up for the beds in the garden I couldn't resist a play in between lugging breeze blocks this morning.

Managed to get to the bottom of the garden just as the MOD train was going through!

    And a couple of shots of the (just about) finished VGA in the sun, excuse my dodgy painting;

Building the VGA was meant to get my motivation back but alas it didn't! However today I have had a free day and actually had some motivation to get in the office and crack on with a few things. One wagon which has been dragging its heals is finally built so is now getting paint. The Scotrail BG has been in for some rectification (widows fallen out and a couple of transfers had come off through handling), I wanted to get this done to add to the MK1 rake in the garden. And I have been build some PRMRP PTB6 bogies to go under some of Paul Rolley's wagons, one of which is also nearly ready for paint.

A couple of wagon write ups to come over the weekend all being well, but another loco has now taken its turn on the WB, hopefully a fairly quick job as its sat in its box for the last couple of years till I got to it. Now the garden is up and running I could do with pushing a few more loco's into traffic.

    Any guesses?

Its been a while, but here is the latest wagon out of the shops! This has been a while in the workshops but finally got pushed over the finish line this week. Will probably hold the second write up back for next weekend.

Another little wagon project this week. I have a few plain Bauxite VAA vans which are really out of period for me so I have been thinking about doing one or two of the RfD ones that were few and far between. Inspired by someone else's model this week I stripped one down and have re-painted it, just now waiting transfers. I am not 100% sure on the green but I am sure with a good coat of dirt it should look fine in the MOD train with a couple of Railfreight ones. Now, do I do some in faded Railfreight??

Well I wasn't at all happy with the green so it was back to research and someone provided a better picture that proved they were a much darker grey colour, so another few licks of paint and now transferred and varnished the VAA looks like this:

    RfD VAA4.jpg

The large logo 37 also now has its identity and after varnishing will be gaining its nameplates and a judicious layer of grime!

Just had a week off and was hoping to get a load of modelling done but it has been jam packed so not much progress. I will be at the Ellis Clark do on Saturday with a number of my wagon builds and a few other bits and pieces for MIOG. One wagon that I'll have done barring transfers and weathering is a few MHA Coalfish. I have just finished painting the yellow bands and the grey interior so will get them mounted on their chassis during the week.

Bit of time tonight after work and I have fixed the other seven bodies to the chassis. These will be going back to Cam at the weekend and will wait transfers and weathering. Apologies for the poor pictures, the light had already pretty much gone tonight!

A couple of other things that have been slowly working through the work bench the last couple of weeks. The Loadhaul Van will go back ion the box until I can get the phone number and data panel then this will be moved on. Shark is to go with my rake of Dog/Catfish but I have another to do in loadhaul at some point.

Might not be the best build in the world, but I am happy with it. Skog's carriage & Wagon Works 3D printed Shark. Augmented with Accurascale Buffers, Dapol Screw Couplings and Slaters Swan Neck Vac pipes. Cam is getting this one for dirt, but for now I am calling it done.

Been very little progress of late but the Wagon Shops have re-opened this week. We've had a couple of Brassworks HEA's in a state of disrepair for a while but they have never made it onto the workbench. This week Cam has given me a number of other wagons in need of some maintenance so a couple of things have been assessed this evening and parts ordered, but I have also made one good HEA out of the two needing repair. The other one will be a bigger job but should have it ready to go back to Cam for paint at the weekend.

Next through the wagons shops is a Skytrex TTA. Now just waiting buffers which should be here next week which will also prompt progress on a couple of other wagons too.

Also on the WB this week is the tunnel mouth for Cam's new layout. We're actually progressing this one rather well as its jumped the queue in front on my High St layout.

Painting finished on the tunnel mouth for now. This will be getting placed tomorrow tomorrow and I'll start doing some more work on the bridge which goes in front of it. It will likely get more dirt and some greenery as the layout grows.

More progress this week on the wagon front has seen two ZCA's (SeaHare's) came into my workshop with damaged buffers having them replaced with NMRS ones from GJH Plant, along with further progress on a second of Skog Works Shark vans. ZCA's will go back to Cam this week to be pushed into service and hopefully more work on the shark and scenic's for his layout.

Next up is a ZKA Limpet, again a part built job needing buffers replacing and paint. I'll probably hand paint this as many were in a terrible state. Now do we go Dutch or everyone's favourite LoadHaul?

Limpet has taken a back seat for a bit. I'll hopefully get back to it and some other wagon bits at the weekend but the priority has been Buildings and structures for Cam's layout. Now that the tunnel mouth is complete I have moved on to refreshing an NPS Depot building (hopefully finished over the weekend) and Cam wanted a Signal box. LCut wouldn't be my go to for kits if money was no object but this needed to be a little more budget. Cam had another of their Signal boxes a while back and had asked if I could do anything with it, unfortunately it hadn't been built very well and was beyond redemption. With some apprehension I took on the challenge of a new kit and its not looking too bad. Green and roof needs another coat and the steps want painting probably a grey colour but I'm quite pleased with this so far.
