Not been much work bench activity as such, been working on Cam's layout. I have just finished one item but that's for another write up when get round to it. However, inspired by someone else who is making one of Skog's VGA's I have dug mine out and made a start. Still a way to go but I've got rolling chassis and made a start on the body. De to the nature of 3D printing there is a lot of graining on some parts so with the doors in particular I have cut the middles out and just used the frame laminated to a flat piece of Plasticard.

Hopefully get the other two doors done tomorrow and finish off the chassis bits then work out how to build the roof.

Well 2022 hasn't started well on the modelling front, work has been nuts and a dose of Covid this week hasn't helped. A couple of transfer deliveries this week and an order of wheels from last year and a small amount of motivation means that there will be another wagon off the work bench on the next week or so.

In other news I bit the bullet with a Heljan 47, yes they have their issues but they are still not bad value compared to a kit and I don't have the time to build one into a decent enough model so Heljan is where I am at! 47492 has had the cant rail cut back and transferred up, plates have just been fixed on (drying) an the buffer beams stripped for a coat of red paint before putting it all back together and delivering to Cam for dirt and sound once I've been released from isolation!

Latest off the WB, this can't be more than six months out of the Paint Shops so completely out of my normal sphere of operation. DB's Freight Belongs On Rail HRA Wagon. This has been in progress for a little while now but has been finished int he last couple of days. It does have a little brother too as I had a Bachman HTA kicking around but that's not quite done yet. Lots & Lots of tiny details thanks to Railtec.

Really lacking much motivation at the moment, work is nuts and the run up to the show everything was a bit crazy. The office is a complete tip, but I am hoping to rectify that tomorrow and start knocking a few things off the WB. Tonight I have managed to get transfers on 47114 so tomorrow I hope to get it in satin varnish ready for weathering, I know the tanks are wrong but this will get rectified t some point in the future.

A little more motivation over the last week saw me cutting up Cam's 2TG 47. We'd discussed how easy or not would it be to do a cutaway cab version. Looking at the body it seemed quite an easy job, the bufferbeam though looked a bit more difficult. The following shows t how I did it and the final picture after it had been returned to Cam for transfers & dirt. It will come back to my workshop so I can add a little more detail to the bufferbeam sides at some point after the Doncaster show.

I am quite pleased with how this is turning out. All being well I might have something else just about off the WB next weekend if I can keep this motivation up!

I think its about having stock that isn't just a straightforward off the shelf with a set of numbers job! Plus I find its a challenge.

Cam's finished the paint work on his TTA so it came back to me for buffers and couplings fitting:

And now Steve has done transfers for Paul Rolley's MAA/MAB wagon I have finally also finished that, a write up for this one coming soon but they are available from Pauls website https://www.impressionistmodels.co.uk/ . Shown here in the company of a Buzz Models MEA.

There will be a number of my wagons and bits and pieces on Dovedale & the MIOG stand at Doncaster at the weekend if anyone is going feel free to say Hi.

Well, few days away and now back to it. last day of leave so I have tidied up the office and having retrieved my glue from Dovedale cracked on with the WRD.

Frame is up with the sides and ends loosely attached. I have run out of Primer but should have an order here tomorrow so they can get painted up.

Unfortunately it seems this kit has a wrong piece in it. It should have an end with a small doorway, not two with the large roller shutter. I have dropped Steve a message to see if I can get the correct part, if not will modify this one.

Two of Paul Rolley's POA Blackadder wagons sit in the shed under maintenance (they actually need some as they had a minor accident!).

Hi Al,

just started Steve's two road servicing shed (RLL704SS) initial thoughts are - very good kit, track fitted to base, rails painted and intermediate layer glued down and weighted, will post pictures onto the Craxton SP thread tomorrow.

Mike

I shall keep an eye out. Yes, the WRD is a nice kit to build too. Steve has already responded so I am hopeful I'll have a replacement part early next week with any luck, just waiting on an order of primer and I can get the roof and sides painted.

Here we go again! A while ago I picked up another batch of Turbots with the intention of extending my rake and maybe flogging a couple on once I had battered them. Well Cam & I re-assessed our fleets this week so it seemed sensible to get these done. Hopefully won't, the last batch I did rolled through the works fairly quickly. Really hope I can keep the current motivation going!

Next job is to start bending the panels. Back to work tomorrow for my final week.

Your weathering of the floor looks realistic (turbot to the LHS of the shoal), please provide details of what paints are used and in what order.

Should that be "blending"?
I think that "bending" is just as appopriate given the condition of the finished Turbot.
