Build thread please!

BTW - expect pressure from the S7 fraternity who model on the East Side...

BTW2 - what is wrong with a good old fashioned J69?

at this point I should state that I shall be spending the afternoon in the Day Care centre as I have failed to ignite another Blue War.

regards, Graham

Hi Simon,
I have no direct experience of the Piercy kit (I am still building a DJH A3) but alternatives are J72 etches only from John Fozzard or the J71 from Connoisseur. Peter Mullen built one of each and there are photos on the guild gallery

No kit currently available unless you count the one by Ace (ex-Ravenscale) , a model of which Noah built while experiencing inclement weather not unlike that outside my window at present.
That old...... that must be why it's only £99

I have to risk the J52 before I venture anymore in funds that direction. But on the bright side thanks to Mr Cook I have a Connoisseur J68 coming my way for my birthday:thumbs:

I had a good look at one when Steve Barnfield was building the kit at York and there are some nice castings and it seems to make up into a nice kit. The bad points are its white metal and this means many things are over scale thickness and the price, which ain't cheap. I've opted for the John Fozzard etchings which are less than half the price of the DJH kit and I must say look very nice indeed. I'm hoping to make a start soon and the first job will be to shorten the frames, footplate and bunker by 3.5mm as I'll be building one of the very first batch. In addition LG did me a caring pack for the etches and it's still cheaper than the DJH kit. Oh and finally S7 is the way forward, a J72 is a great start for your first S7 loco ( Graham, pressure applied ! ) :)

I hadn't realised that Laurie was in competition with BUPA Mick?:))

Was that a similar set to the J73? - just asking as I fancy one too.....

Bloody I-phone and it's predictive text! If I could do a laughing smiley I would mate as that made me chuckle. Similar mate, the only shame with the J71 and 72 packs are you only get the backhead fittings and not a lovely cast brass back head. I managed to get Jim McGowan to part with a smoke box door and backhead for mine. All being well i finishing at about half four ish so I'll be there on time,

99 shekels, I believe was the original price. Of course the scale back then was 1/3rd of a digit to the half cubit.

Did you know that Shekels are current currency in Israel???

Off Topic I know and useless info except on pub quiz night ...

Cheers

And Israel are on their third currency since the Ravenscale kit was introduced, though I doubt that one will end up in a pub quiz...:D

Pub quiz fiend! :))

Not really, but I have visited a few times with a previous employer, who worked in the currency industry...

Another useless fact or two the smaller denomination in Israel is Agora, with plural Agorot? And some of the Shekel notes are made of polymer....

Cheers
