A bit more progress on Forest Mill and Forest Furniture buildings, a few more details yet to be done.
For those of you who have followed Blackney the branch from Blackney went to Southern United colliery and the old saw mill and Forest Furniture. This micro layout will be called Forest Mill.The back story for this scene is that the old Forest saw mill which had been abandoned had been parly rebuilt and now used as a timber store and a new brick building had been added containinf Forest Furniture's workshop.

Not written anything on here for some time. A loss of mojo caused by a very blocked nose and toothache and Blackney deciding to pack up. The latter was a lose wire in the plug for the handheld controller now fixed by my good mate SAD (Slamon Pastures on RMWeb). a visit to the dentist and a good application of proscribed nose drops has cleared the former and strangely my mojo came back so I decided to attack the set tarck points and lay track to see what Forest Mill Sidings might look like. It all seems to work and pushing a couple of wagons through the now shortened reverse curves has so far seen no buffer locking. Any how some pics.

More progress track now glued down and points operating, the next step is to wire the layout and build the fiddleyard/stick.
Before photos I was wondering if anyone else had he problem when I was building the stairs/steps at the end of the freight platform I was using Slaters brick plasticard and whilst cutting it kept wanting to splinter and shatter. for such a small item there was a lot of waste. The plasticard ahad been kept in a file in a stable environment.
Any way back to the photos. The class 14 and 3 vans were placed to see how long the longest train was likely to be so I knew how long to make the fiddlestick.

More progress, the track and sleepers have been painted and ballasting has begun, so far just the three sidings. Ballast is Woodland scenics medium, grey blend (it will be washed over as I did with Blackney).The glue as it were is Quick Shine floor polish which I used successfully when I sceniced the fiddeyard on Blackney.

How do you use Quick Shine to secure the ballast? Do you need to wet the ballast first with washing up liquid as per the PVA method?
