That’s impressive, Adrian,

my 40W CO2 struggles with more than a few mm of MDF so 15mm ply is way beyond it. Is that in a single cut?

I hadn’t realised I could do an offset from the red dot in Lightburn. A case of RTBM, I guess… :)

No it's multiple cuts (15-20) but at 2000mm/min - this is the video showing the capability (2 mins) and making the pointer offset (5:30) and measuring and setting up Lightburn software with the offset.

Further along our journey through the Didcot buildings we have the ash shed. This is a 7mm scale building and is approx half the scale length it should be but at 480mm is still a useful length while being more realistic for a model layout.

Nice asbestos roof. We do have larger corrugated card but I prefer this one.

Thanks Phil - just measured up so might as well share the result (E&OE ).
Two are spot on for 7mm Big 6 asbestos (6" pitch) and steel corrugated (3" pitch):

For 3mm the 1.75mm pitch equates to 7" pitch so pretty good for Big 6.
For S scale the 2.2mm pitch gives 5 1/2" pitch so again ok for Big 6.

I’ve tried the larger corrugated card on a 7mm test section of a Southern Traders Stores we’ve been asked to produce. This is our second largest type and works perfectly in my eyes for this building.

Nice. Laser kits really suit the modular nature of these buildings. Will be a good addition to your range.

Out of interest, how robust is the card roof material? I've had bad experiences of buildings, actually scenics in general, not being treated with care when exhibiting. I can imagine errant tools or big clodhopping hands squishing delicate corrugated materials. I've got the "last minute major building repairs" t-shirt.

It's one of the reasons I keep going back to the Wills corrugated asbestos sheets - they are bulletproof. Downside is that they require work to thin the visible edges down, but it's doable with care.

The card has no construction qualities at all. If you notice, I support the card usually with 2mm thick MDF. I’ve done so here as well. It’s the compromise one must make when designing lasercut kits or any modelling I guess. As long as it looks right and the main dimensions are correct I’m happy.

Your buildings are lovely and i would think in your hands any building made from any medium would end up looking fantastic.

Thanks for the kind comments, much appreciated. I always surprise myself when the buildings are finished - there's never much detailed planning done and a lot of it is made up as I go. Probably why I'm drawn to the more rustic and lived in type prototypes!

Really must have a chat with you about the windows, staircase and other bits for the LSWR signal box for Pencarrow.

Hi Chris, would that be a LSWR Type 4 signal box, by any chance?

Regards
Rob
