Is this the final posting about the "K"? Well....., yes!

Backhead is complete and now finished - well, I have to coal the tender but that's hardly photogenic.

So, before the tender joins the loco and the interior of the cab is hidden forever, 'yer tis.

A supplement.......

At the Reading Trade Show Steph said to me "You know there's a wonderful photo of the backhead of a "K" in The Southern Way No 45, don't you?" I have every issue of the publication but am lagging some four issues behind in my reading so had not opened it. At the time, very recently, that I built the backhead I'd had that copy in my bookshelf for getting on for a year.

The saving grace, if there is one, is that my interpretation, with a lot of help from my friends (that'd make a good song title, wouldn't it?) has created something which is not a million miles from a real one. The only part which is rather out of kilter is the steam fountain.

I think I'll live with it as it is.

(Apart from the consideration that Richard said it needs a proper paint job, so it may yet go away for stripping and painting. If it does there'll be a supplement to this supplement.)
