7mm Cardiff Canton

5081 has different shaped balance weights on the driving axle compared with the other Castles. It looks like the arrangement used on 4023(?) - a Saint or Star or something? - Not too clear on the older GWR classes.

Canton received its first hymeks in the summer of 1961. They were looked after in the carriage sheds and serviced in the DMU shed, I’ve never seen any pictures of them on the main running shed.

Maybe as simple as a means to keep crews' feet out of the puddles when oiling up?

They do seem to be laid out in that fashion, but for anyone wishing to replicate actual Pot-Sleepered track, Modelu do them in 4mm & 7mm scale….
