Hi Bob and Roger

Thank you for your kind comments: as I've said before "it's mostly been a fun journey"!

GE in 7mm in Cyprus I'm sure is a lonely furrow, but its looking good keep up the good work. If you are a Great Eastern Railway Society member there is a WhatsApp Modellers Group where you will find many "like minded" people.

Milk traffic. I've collected info for many years and hopefully a copy here won't be a problem.

We lived in Essex, but my Dad's family lived in Norwich. From about age 5 years (1955 - and every subsequent until mid-60s) they put me on a train at Chelmsford bound for Norwich Thorpe, where my Nan meet me.

I then spent the summer school holidays with her and my cousins of similar age (see photo weren't we young!), mostly at Thorpe Station albeit we did once venture to City Station but that wasn't a good impression!

Mum and dad hired a car and came to Norwich for the last two weeks of the school holiday and we had trips out to the coast. We returned home by car and I still remember the rows of steam locos at Colchester, (by the diesel depot) as we drove along the A12 Rememberance Avenue.

Thanks for posting - I love all the lineside clutter - it makes a huge difference to the overall atmosphere of the layout.

Hi Adrian

Thank you for your comments.

I've been working from a 1956 topographical survey of Colchester undertaken for the major works undertaken c1960.

The survey shows carriage gas filling points, all the signals, gradient posts etc etc, so I've no excuse!

I would also be interested in a link to the photo of the milk train you mentioned earlier.
I'm sure that Google worked in Cyprus last time I was there! A search on 'Milk train Witham photo' produced:
