Scattergun Crimson and cream

I am building a Gresley Corridor coach painted BR in crimson and cream livery. I have not been able to find a sufficiently detailed photo to show exactly where the waist black and gold lining is positioned. It appears to be either on the raised beading of the lower panelling or just under. Can anyone help?

The first repainted sets of Gresley's in 1949 did have the lining on the waist beading. Thereafter it was almost always under the waist beading as shown in Steve Banks images...

Hi Tony,

I had seen this site but it was a bit blurry. Also the rest of the lower beading does not appear to be crimson. I suspect this is down to general muckiness rather then any paint differences.

This shows exactly what I needed in detail. And the info about it being changed is interesting, I wonder why?

Placing lining on the hit & miss beading was probably considered an unnecessary complication where the blood & custard split. When all-over maroon livery was adopted, the lining went on the beading.

Also the beading would have provided an instant straight edge to line to underneath - no measuring. As opposed to the centre of the beading where you would have to measure for the centreline.

The lining was often level with the door handles.
